Ivermectin is also used to treat "River Blindness" (Onchocerciasis) in Africa. Hydroxychloroquine is used as a prophylactic and treatment of Malaria and lupus without ill effects. Plain Chloroquine does have risks. I have been told that hydroxychloroquine is given as a prophylactic to service personnel sent to malaria high-risk areas.
