Johnson, Grassley demand new FBI documents after explosive Russia case revelations

Senators send letter to FBI Director Wray after declassified footnotes exposed new missteps in probe of Trump campaign.

Two Republican Senate committee chairman demanded Thursday that FBI Director Christopher Wray turn over new materials from the bureau’s bungled Russia collusion probe after newly declassified evidence raised new questions about agents’ failure to vet a key informant.

In a letter to Wray, Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs chairman, and Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, the Senate Committee on Finance chairman, expressed concerns the investigation was tainted by "Russian disinformation."

The FBI's Crossfire Hurricane investigation filed inaccurate FISA warrants while probing whether people affiliated with the Trump campaign were involved in Russian attempts to meddle in the 2016 election, according to the Department of Justice Inspector General.

Johnson and Grassley said declassified footnotes from the FBI's Inspector General showed that "the Crossfire Hurricane team’s investigative file included at least two intelligence reports stating that key parts of the reporting from Christopher Steele—reporting that 'played a central and essential role' in the decision to request FISA orders —were part of a Russian disinformation campaign."

The two senators said "the FBI knew that Russian intelligence was targeting Christopher Steele’s company, that Steele relied on sources affiliated with Russian intelligence, and at least two of Steele’s reports were described as the product of a Russian disinformation campaign."

Grassley and Johnson said that Russian disinformation in the investigation could potentially "have been widespread."

Their letter indicates that the FBI should provide the Crossfire Hurricane materials by the end of April.

LOL, the FBI will provide them nothing. They only release documents when it benefits them. You know, like “releasing” a document that proves they were decent honest non-partisan agents, and they just got tricked by Russia.

The Russian Disinformation narrative is complete bullshit and only serves to give these criminals an out.
They were feeding the information to their informants to parrot. There were no Russians outside the ones that were friendly to the deepstate for return favors.

You mean like Skirpal? Very close associate of Steele, who got sprayed with nerve gas (fentanyl) in England? They decided he wasn’t reliable is my guess.

Just drive a stake thru the hearts of the FBI, FISA Courts, CIA, and NSA. Defund and disband them while the nice unemployment package is Covid fresh. Fire them all. Most their work load seems to be political targeting and political espionage anyway. Why are taxpayers funding that $hit?

In 2021 let the legislature create new agencies with a fresh and honest mandate at far reduced scope and cost. Serve the public for once!

Or like the ones who tried to set up Don Jr with that fake meeting? They met with Glen Simpson the day before and the day after the meeting where they showed up and started an agenda having ZERO to do with the planned topic?

That Chris Wray is still in charge shows clearly that nothing is going to be done about the FBI or any of the other co-conspirator skunks involved.

The new agencies will largely choose former employees of the prior agencies. After all, they have relevant experience, sadly.

Use the Elliot Ness recruiting method.
Nobody with agency specific prior experience need apply.

Just shut down the entire FBI. There is no way too root out the deep state there. The FBI will be misused by Rats for years to come. Shut it down. Everything else is, now’s the deep state’s turn.

Getting pretty tired of hearing their criminal acts of sedition referred to as missteps, error or mistakes.
