House Democrats propose $2,000 monthly payments to Americans

House Democrats have introduced legislation that would expand the federal government’s coronavirus relief cash payments to $2,000 a month until the economy recovers.

On Wednesday, Americans who qualify started getting one-time checks from the Treasury Department of up to $1,200 per adult depending on their incomes.

But Democratic Reps. Tim Ryan (Ohio) and Ro Khanna (Calif.) introduced a bill on Tuesday that would expand the payments to $2,000 on a monthly basis until employment returns to pre-crisis levels.

They argued that the expansion is necessary to keep up with the growing number of Americans facing layoffs, furloughs or pay cuts due to the pandemic shutting down much of the economy.

"As millions of Americans file for unemployment week over week, we have to work quickly to patch the dam — and that means putting cash in the hands of hard-working families,” Ryan said in a statement.

“A one-time, twelve hundred dollar check isn’t going to cut it,” Khanna added.

Under their proposal, every American age 16 older making less than $130,000 annually would receive at least $2,000 per month, while married couples earning less than $260,000 would receive at least $4,000. Families would also be eligible for an additional $500 for each child, up to $1,500.

Frankly, I’d prefer they stay away forever.

A lot less damage that way.

I guess maybe they could pay for it by canceling every bit of ‘pork’ still being paid from all their legislation for the last twenty years, stop all welfare and medicare and medicaid programs, Stop all federal pensions donate their own salaries.

But no, they will pay for it by stealing from your children, your grandchildren and their grand children..... Or by resorting to Zimbabwean inflation. Or both, more likely

We can laugh about but they are serious. I truly think that they think they can buy votes, remove the President by blaming him for this all and they ultimately have no concept of money but to spend it because it is not theirs.

and that means putting cash in the hands of hard-working families

The problem is nobody is allowed to be working.

Great idea. And in six months a loaf of bread will cost a couple hundred. Just like Venezuela. Another democrat backdoor plan to turn the country socialist.

Be careful, lots of empty cells now that Dems are letting felons out to keep them safe. Rod Serling could have made an episode out of that logic.

Married couple with 3 kids, both had jobs before COVID, now unemployed:

Man: $500 unemployment (state)
Man: $600 unemployment (federal)
Woman: $500 unemployment (state)
Woman: $600 unemployment (federal)
Man: $2000 (Democrat proposal)
Woman: $2000 (Democrat proposal)
3 kids: $1500 (Democrat proposal)

Monthly income from taxpayers to sit at home and not work: $7,700. That’s just shy of 100 grand annually.

No problem. I’ll run through the store, without a mask, with a machete and threaten to lop some heads off.
That’s got to be a felony ... so let me go! :)

Then of course, the economy will NEVER recover.

This virus is turning into a democrat wet dream, and going to become a new, go-to chapter in their destroy America playbook from now on.

I’ll take it. The first month goes to pick up a new handgun. Month two goes for an AR style rifle. Then a shotgun. After that, I may need to wait a month, then pick up a tack driving precision rifle that can pick a flea off an Antifa goon’s mask at 1,000 yards. If they want to give me the money, it should be used for Constitutional purposes.

Which might well be never. Just another Marxistocrat scheme for Universal "stay home, sit on your a$$" income.
