Rep. Justin Amash is considering a third-party presidential run this year to challenge President Trump and Joe Biden, and will be making a decision soon, his campaign said Wednesday.
The campaign for Amash, the former Republican, put out a statement Wednesday saying the Michigan independent will make a decision soon.
In mid-February, Justin Amash paused active campaigning for his congressional seat to carefully consider a presidential run, his campaign said. He has been discussing the potential campaign with his family, his friends, his team, and others, and a decision can be expected soon. [ ]
Amash is a libertarian-minded conservative who was an ardent supporter of Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, during his 2012 presidential run and backed his son, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. during the 2016 primary election. Amash later endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, when Pauls campaign fizzled out and refused to vote for Trump in the general election.

Who?
A stalking horse to try and divert votes from Trump.
Just a few votes in a few states could tip the balance.
And the deep state will doubtless pony up the money for such campaigns.
Pull in whatever never-Trumper bucks you can... and when the campaign shuts down you keep the change. Nice gig!
He won’t get political levels of money like tens of millions. But maybe he hauls in a couple of hundred thousand and pays for a lake house.
Amash would pull votes from Biden, not from Trump.
Translation: he knows he has no chance of being re-elected to Congress so it's Grab All The Campaign Contributions I Can Before Looking For A Real Job Time!
like” Egg McMuffin “from Utah?? :)
I think you are right.
A lot of Republican “Never Trumpers” would be comfortable voting for Biden. Amash gives them an “out”.
They have to try to split the non-D vote in Michigan. The Dims don’t want to lose it again.
Amash would pull votes from Biden, not from Trump.
__________
Agree.
Right.
Only purpose would be to try to prevent Trump from winning and keep the Never Trumpers happy.
That makes a lot of sense.
Good he will pull from Biden with the never trumpers
Correct. The votes going to him would be the Never Trumpers and those on the left who aren’t happy with Biden. These are not Trump voters. Never were. Too much out there about vast numbers of independents and former Dems (and even a few who voted 3rd party last time) who are voting Trump this time - and the China thing, bringing manufacturing home, has been in his wheelhouse since 2016. It’s going to be a winning issue (if he needed another one). Also his track record.
once again, the libertarians are willing tools of the liberals.
Amash is a MCGA guy. Make China Great Again. https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2019/05/18/republican-justin-amash-calls-for-impeachment-while-holding-personal-business-interests-in-china/
Like anyone is going to vote for a weasel that looks like he is always suffering from constipation.
“Amash would pull votes from Biden, not from Trump.”
Nope, we have FReepers here that think this A-hole is great.
He would take just enough conservatives votes to give Biden the win. No liberals would vote for him.
