White House economic adviser Peter Navarro told "The Story" Wednesday night that China has its sights set on controlling various United Nations agencies like the World Health Organization, and is using the WHO's current director-general as a surrogate.
"The U.N. itself has 15 specialized agencies, including the WHO," Navarro told host Martha MacCallum. " ... What China has been doing very aggressively over the last decade is to try to gain control of those by electing people to the top. It already controls five of the 15, also, by using proxies, colonial-like proxies, like Tedros [Adhanom Ghebreyesus] at the WHO."
"As you can see in this crisis, the damage that kind of control by China [of] the key health organization has been absolutely enormous," he said. "They suppressed the human to human transmission [data], they refused to call it a pandemic.
"They basically discouraged travel bans," Navarro added, in an apparent critique of Tedros' leadership.
Navarro told MacCallum that President Trump is seriously considering cutting funding to the WHO after they say it botched the handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
"It all tracks to China's view of the world and how they want to control different types of international organizations, even as they don't play by the international rules," he said. "So it's going to be up to the president to look at this."
Navarro added that the U.S. government and its health care apparatus "lost about five weeks" of preparation because of China being "nontransparent."
"All I can keep telling you is that China's attempt to control basically every organization within the United Nations for their colonial powers, through bribery and other things, tremendous damage to this country into the world."

Navarro’s statement may be the first public indication that China might be dishonoring their trade deal with President Trump.The Chinese are supposed to be buying crop produce from America’s farmers. (Up go the tariffs?)

Seriously though, I believe what Navarro is saying but the truth is whose fault is it? How is China allowed to do this? If the UN is not impartial, it is worthless. Everyone should plan accordingly. Everyone knows how the UN is and we cannot depend upon them. We, and everyone else, need to plan for our own regardless of what the UN does or says. We need to plan for medical emergencies and stockpile for that. We don’t need the UN to tell us when or how to do it.

In response to withering criticism over his questionable handling of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) head lashed out at Taiwan for “racist attacks” and accused Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of being complicit.
During a press conference on Wednesday (April 8), a reporter asked WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom whether it was more difficult to operate during the pandemic with his moral authority eroded by criticism from world leaders such as President Donald Trump. Tedros responded by claiming that he had been assailed by racist attacks and death threats over the past three months.
He said that some had called him a “negro” and he claimed, “Three months ago this attack came from Taiwan.” With a stern expression on his face, Tedros then said, “We need to be honest, I will be straight today, from Taiwan.”
“And Taiwan, the Foreign Ministry also, they know the campaign. They didn’t disassociate themselves,” claimed Tedros. He went on to allege that MOFA “even started criticizing me in the middle of all that insult and slur, but I didn’t care. Three months.”
