Just yesterday CNBC posted their poll showing 52% approved of the job he was doing. I’ll go with that one...

YouGov is everywhere in the US now! Americans love lockdowns?

3 Apr: HuffPo: Most Americans Say They’ll Keep Staying Home This Month Even If Restrictions Are Lifted
A majority also say that statewide stay-at-home orders are a good policy, a new HuffPost/YouGov poll finds.
By Ariel Edwards-Levy
An overwhelming majority of the American public — 87% — is now making the effort to stay at home when possible, a new HuffPost/YouGov survey finds, with most saying they’ll continue to do so this month regardless of any official limitations.
Just 7% of Americans say they’re not currently trying to stay home when possible, with another 6% unsure. By a 70-point margin (79% versus 9%), Americans say that the states that have issued stay-at-home orders made the right decision in doing so...

HuffPost has teamed up with YouGov to conduct daily opinion polls. You can learn more about this project and take part in YouGov’s nationally representative opinion polling. More details on the polls’ methodology are available here (DEAD LINK).

3 Apr: CBS Boston: Poll shows public don’t see Trump as ‘Wartime President’
by Jon Keller
BOSTON (CBS) – Political pundits are always talking about economic anxiety, with good reason – it is generally regarded as the key factor in any national election outcome.
And with just seven months to go until election day, a new CBS News/YouGov poll of 2,236 U.S. residents (margin of error: +/-2.4%) finds economic anxiety is running high, to say the least...

Whatever other factors contributed to Donald Trump’s 2016 victory, he has made it clear he considers the nation’s economic health to be crucial to his re-election. And with his smaller than normal “rally ‘round the flag” job approval bounce already starting to fade and the worst of the crisis still to come, this new poll sends an ominous political message to Mr. Trump – outside of the diehard true-believers, the public is not buying his recent rebranding as an effective “wartime president.”...

Given the grim facts on the ground, it’s no wonder the president and all but the most rabid virus denialists have abandoned the contention that reviving the economy should be prioritized “even if it means more people might be exposed to coronavirus,” as the poll puts it. Only 17% still cling to that fantasy; 83% prefer to battle the virus by “keeping people home and social distancing, even if the economy is hurt in the short term.”
More than three-fourths of those surveyed believe the Trump administration could have done more to prevent the virus damage...

When respondents were given a list of adjectives – half positive, half negative – to describe how they feel watching the president’s daily briefings, the two highest-polling answers were “worried” (44%) and “angry” (34%). Even worse, 81% essentially don’t believe he knows what he’s talking about. When they hear him talk specifics, such as possible virus treatments, 47% want confirmation from medical experts before swallowing it, and 34% flat-out dismiss it as “inaccurate or unproven by medical scientists.”...

more proof COVID is political above all.

My wife is now going to vote for Trump, after actually listening to him for a while, realizes she’s been hearing a lot of stuff that just isn’t true, and he actually makes sense.

It’s all over.

All.

Over.

How is the leader of the state that has absolutely bungled this - really the only state to completely arrive to this moment unprepared - having support increase? If polls showed souring, it would be those in NY. This is total bunk.

How does an online poll know if these people are registered voters?

Yes, but it is unusual for a commander-in-chief to be so roundly rejected in the middle of a crisis. Usually there is a “rally around the flag” effect in a war or a crisis. It is a bad omen, even considering the source, given the numbers.

Agreed. Pravda is alive and well. Actually I believe it’s just the opposite and people are:

1. Beginning to reject the official narrative and coming to the realization it’s just a new strand of the flu and not the boogie man as we’ve been told;
2. Becoming impatient with the lockdown and recognizing that if this goes on much longer a great many will be financially ruined.

Got to keep the sheep in line and prevent them from thinking for themselves.

I agree. If you can shut the economy down once, you can do it again.

On the poll: We need to see internals of the poll and it is too early. Most polls are a reflection of advertising and events, often economic-& with the economy tanked (once Trump’s ace in the hole) we have to work hard. When economy is good=president gets credit, when bad=president gets blamed.

The media will continue its relentless negative “advertising” against Trump, replaying anytime he gets salty with them, and unless the economy comes roaring back people may look around and just hit the change button. Never mind that Biden is much more senile than my 96 year old mom, will change any position on anything to appease the left, this has played out perfectly for Biden, great economy going to negative , Trump can’t do rallys , Biden will claim he would have but now go videos (allowing him to hide the fact that he can’t draw people) Biden is sitting in a basement where he can’t be seen making flubs, now he can send out edited videos, the media will cover for him now. Geez if he wins -uggh and as economy comes back next year you will hear about the Biden recovery. People we cannot assume Trump will win-we need to get out and help in the fall and pray economy comes back sooner rather than later.

You know, you mentioned PTrump playing the crappy hand he was dealt, that got me thinking...

He doesn't like the income tax, it fuels the wet dreams of the Left, so he suspended it to help those dealing with unemployment. Noble of him, the Left gave not a peep in protest, but think about this: When it comes time to reimpose the income tax, do you think there will not be push back and a heated discussion about both the legality and morality of that tax? Maybe we will be free of that onerous burden. Genius at work.

And the illegal immigration mess. Stopped that, no peep from the Left, you wanna' bet that stays in place? No more immigration from Mexico, the border x'ers are immediately kicked out. I think PTrump thought about this lemon and is making lemonade. Genius at work. What a joy to watch.
