America’s major medical society specializing in the treatment of respiratory diseases has endorsed using hydroxychloroquine for seriously ill hospitalized coronavirus patients.
The American Thoracic Society issued guidelines Monday that suggest COVID-19 patients with pneumonia get doses of the anti-malaria drug.
“To prescribe hydroxychloroquine (or chloroquine) to hospitalized patients with COVID-19 pneumonia if all of the following apply: a) shared decision-making is possible, b) data can be collected for interim comparisons of patients who received hydroxychloroquine (or chloroquine) versus those who did not, c) the illness is sufficiently severe to warrant investigational therapy, and d) the drug is not in short supply,” the Thoracic Society said.

So, I suffer from an AFIB type of condition. Is it the HCQ that has the side effect of AFIB, or is it the Zpak? Or does anyone really know? I take metoprolol, which prevents the afib and that works these days. (Actually I have SVT, which is Afib in a different part of the heart.)

Defense Procurement Act. Force them to make it 24/7, every drug mfg capable. It’s part of the petition. Then roll it out as makes sense. First responders, med personnel, old people in Miami, NO, NYC first...they can figure out the logistics. Treat it like they would a temporary vaccine.

This is good- a start, but They should know that treating the virus early is key to PREVENTING people from becoming “seriously ill hospitalized coronavirus patients.”
They should be recommending that people get the drug at the earliest possible signs of the virus- especially the elderly and people with preexisting conditions
You can keep your data on how many people with mild symptoms develop severe ones after given the drugs- and also on how many severe cases recover fully when given the drugs- there’s no need to wait until the people are seriously ill and develop irreversible lung damage before giving the drug-
The ‘concern’ that there isn’t enough is hogwash- there are only a few hundred 1000 with the virus- we have now plenty to give to virus victims AND to lupus and arthritis victims as well, plus the fact that many many millions of doses are forthcoming- there is no need to be stingy- Israel is sending us many millions of doses- and domestic manufacturers are ramping up production as well as overseas manufacturers are doing the same- We’re not going to run out- limit the supply right now to med workers, and those that have the virus no matter how bad- then when we get many millions more- give it as preventative-

I think it was the ZPac- but don’t hold me to that- Even with heart conditions though- they can monitor under close observation and take measures if anything looks wonky- while more risky for those with conditions- it will still be pretty manageable from what I’ve heard-

its risky for those docs, but Trump needs to wheel out a few frontline MAGA docs at these task force meetings to talk real-world results and their patient experiences with HCQ, Z-pak, Zn.
