I don’t want to be too paranoid and I don’t want to type a long rant, but I will say this —
Sure, China has historically been a point of origin for disease. I suppose there are multiple reasons for that, and I don’t imagine that this historical trend will change any time soon. All I can do about that is shrug.
But there is at least an inkling that maybe — maybe — China created a vaccine for this thing (for internal use) and then released the virus on the world. China is either lying about it’s own death toll (likely) or else China was well-prepared and has largely escaped the ravages. In which case this is really an act of war.
What do we do about that? Do we have to wait for real “proof”? What if it happens again next year? The year after that? Every year?
If Saddam Hussein rolls his armored divisions into Kuwait, we meet him on the field of battle and push him back. But if China is intentionally infecting the world — what is the correct response? I fully support tariffs, but tariffs are waaaaaaay insufficient. I almost think nukes are the only way to tell a nation “stop with the biowarfare”.
I find it hard to believe that China would release it deliberately, because it cannot be controlled and attacks indiscriminately.
China has suffered big-time in all this, with many of their own people killed, including valuable scientists and medical personnel.

A slight problem with that. THEY also have nukes. We start lobbing those at them, and guess what? A few American cities and all the people in them get turned into so much radioactive ash.
If indeed the CCP was behind it and it WAS a deliberate strike against us, I'm all for a response. But, WHAT should the response be? Nuclear war ain't a great option, and it could devolve into a furball that involves other nations who also have nukes.
I certainly don't have an answer, and I'm pretty sure the White House knows their options are limited....unless they're willing to sacrifice American soldiers and/or citizens. And I do NOT think President Trump wants that.
Except that China is also feeling the pain of the global economic collapse that they then would have caused. That’s the big factor that doesn’t really make sense..
What’s their motive? Revenge for the tariffs? I can’t get there.

They have, whether actually or tacitly, declared war on the rest of the world. Show them that their actions have consequences.
Basic game theory applies. If one player cheats and the other sticks to the rules, the cheater wins.
