Google has launched a movement tracking tool aimed at helping public health officials combat COVID-19, the disease caused by the CCP virus, commonly known as novel coronavirus.
As health officials seek to evaluate and optimize response strategies like social distancing, Google’s new COVID-19 Community Mobility Reports intends to provide insights into how policies like work-from-home and shelter-in-place, aimed at flattening the curve of the pandemic, are impacting peoples’ movement and behavior.
“We have heard from public health officials that this same type of aggregated, anonymized data could be helpful as they make critical decisions to combat COVID-19,” said two Google executives, Jen Fitzpatrick, SVP Geo, and Karen DeSalvo, Chief Health Officer at Google Health, in an April 3 announcement.
The tech giant said the reports would initially cover 131 countries and regions, and use aggregated and anonymized data.

Back in the day, people left their homes to do everyday life. They couldn’t take their telephones with them. They lived. The survived. They thrived. They lived their lives. All without a telephone tethered to their lives.
A decade or so ago, there was a small movement called, “a 70’s vacation” where people/families would leave their tech toys behind for a period of time and talk to each other. Enjoy each other’s company. All without being tethered to a a “smartphone”, tablet or laptop.
With over 3 times the population of America , proximity to China , crowding and rampant poverty, one would think India would would have a huge case load by now. It does not. 72 dead and 2500 cases. It makes me wonder if this virus is not new to India and it had previous outbreaks so people are immune there now. Something is keeping the numbers down there.
Maybe the things they already have are worse.
Maybe COVID-19 is afraid to take them on directly.

India is a massive disease vector.
Anyone who has bathed in the Ganges since childhood and not died yet has developed one hell of an immune system.
I would expect that they won’t even notice this little disease.

You know....if we (or the Indian government) weren’t looking for these specific deaths, they would be missed among the many, many thousands of other deaths and the deaths would be mostly attributed to the comorbidities. Truth be told, most of the 6,000 American deaths would also be lost in the “noise” of all the other deaths.
I have never used Chrome, never signed into Google, and never had Gmail. For a reason.

Well i do have location off and history deleted and paused...hell, i know where i have been...my phone doesn’t need to.
