MILWAUKEE -- The 2020 Democratic National Convention has officially been postponed until August due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Democratic Party announced Thursday.

The convention was originally scheduled for July 13-17. It will now be held the week of August 17.

“In our current climate of uncertainty, we believe the smartest approach is to take additional time to monitor how this situation unfolds so we can best position our party for a safe and successful convention," said Joe Solmonese, CEO of the Democratic National Convention Committee. "During this critical time, when the scope and scale of the pandemic and its impact remain unknown, we will continue to monitor the situation and follow the advice of health care professionals and emergency responders."

The move came following recent calls from major political players, including Democratic frontrunner for president Joe Biden, to postpone the convention.

No shock. Once the Kentucky primary is done....within a week, I think Biden will indicate that he’s not able to fulfill the job.

I’m all for Lincoln-Douglas style debates between Trump and Biden.

Either one can go first - speak, standing, to a large audience for 3-4 hours. A short break, and then the other speaks, standing to that audience for 3-4 hours.

Biden hit the hardest?

I don't think so. They can keep Biden hidden until August which will help to ensure his nomination. Hardest hit will be the Democrat Party which will nominate a man who cannot win in November.

Back to back conventions one week after the other.

They won't get as long of a post-convention boost as they would have had with the earlier date.

It is going to be postponed indefinitely!

I imagine that this could be the first step toward an online "non-convention".

///////////////////////////

Every day that goes by his mental deterioration becomes more apparent. How can they trust him with our nuclear codes?

Why do polls (if true!!) show America loves the jerk? Are they that stupid?
(yes)
