who said that we should accept some lives lost to save the stock market, that is being attributed to Trump? I think it is wrong. I cannot remember who did say it
After I get the answer I will requst that this thread be deleted.
It is believed to have been said by some grandparents who think they would rather risk, (however slight) their health for the prosperous future of their children and grandchildren.
I don’t believe “we should accept some lives lost to save the stock market.”
But I do believe that taking due precautions and getting back to work sooner, rather than later, will see a quicker end to this crisis.
Come Easter, it will be close to a month. At some point, soon, IMO, the dangers need to be braved by the willing and the engine restarted.
AGREED and that is exactly what our leader and president said.
Too bad every adult in the country doesn't watch the daily press briefing and then turn off the pundits that try to tear down what he said.
Of course we kill people for money and the stock market. Did you really think all these middle east wars were meant to make the world safe for feudal monarchy and the the islamic death cult.
does anyone have a link for Lt Gov patrick’s statement ??
Vanity Fair twisted Trump’s word and said it in a headline:
https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2020/03/donald-trump-coronavirus-deaths-vs-economy
So you’re saying economic catastrophe doesn’t cost lives?
The suicide rate skyrocketed under Obama as people lost hope of even finding jobs.
The homeless are people who can’t find jobs.
Poverty kills far more than viruses.
Evidently you prefer that people die of despair.
A nation that is not functioning economically is in a state of deterioration. Period. Only the most massively deadly bug would put us where we are today. ..except that the people themselves would be making the decision to run and hide. We were in the same place 11 years ago and we soldiered on. We DIDN’T shut down the world. Wonder WHAT is so different this time?
"I am living smart, listening to the President, the CDC guidelines like all people should, but I am not living in fear of Covid-19. What I'm living in fear of is what's happening to this country. And you know, Tucker, no one reached out to me and said as a senior citizen, are you willing to take a chance on your survival in exchange for keeping the America that all America loves for your children and grandchildren? And if that's the exchange, I'm all in.
"And that doesn't make me noble or brave or anything like that, I just think there are lots of grandparents out there in this country, like me, I have six grandchildren, that what we all care about and what we love more than anything are those children. And, I want to, you know, live smart and see through this, but I don't want the whole country to be sacrificed. And that's what I see. I've talked to hundreds of people, Tucker, and just in the last week, and making calls all the time and everyone says pretty much the same thing, that we can't lose our whole country.
We are having an economic collapse. I'm also a small businessman --- I understand it, and I talk with business people all the time, Tucker, and my heart is lifted tonight by what I heard the President say, because we can do more than one thing at a time. We can do two things. So, my message is that, let's get back to work, let's get back to living, let's be smart about it, and those of us who are 70 plus, we will take care of ourselves but don't sacrifice the country. Don't do that. Don't ruin this great American dream."
Except for the petty baronets in charge of cities, counties, and states...they're feeling their oats on this whole thing. Rahm Emanuel taught them well.
No blood for oil!
Likewise, no deliberate human sacrifices for an increase of the stock price!
Though I fail to see the correlation of either.
Luckily for us, we’re going to have both.
We’re starting to see that already, but only anecdotally. Someone will take interest and compile statistics before too long.
The reality is we accept 30000 traffic deaths each year rather than everyone sitting home living at a subsistence level and millions dying young each year from lack of transportation of food, medicines, heat or cold, etc.
We use natural gas despite a few hundred deaths each year.
We eat what we please ,in large part what is advertised, regardless of morbid obesity and diabetes.Tens of thousands die because of this.
We go to roller coasters even though a few die every year when something goes wrong.
We fly small and large aircraft despite deadly crashes.
We drink alcohol to excess, inhale known carcinogens in tobacco smoke, use addictive unnecessary drugs, and even drown in bathtubs, ponds, swimming pools, etc.
We realize there are risks in living.
Evidently so...
Just more lies pulled from their arse. 8>)
Well we accept 35,000 flu deaths a year, 40,000 auto deaths due to drunk drivers and untold deaths in cities by gangsters...
Youre an idiot. Trump never said such a thing
It is true that some lives will be lost. Thats sad. The US needs to get back to work. Period. Unless you want to end up like China or Venezuela we need to get back to work
It not about the stock market. Its about all of us
And I’m at the age when it’s time to think about NOT deliberately leaving a mess for the next generation to clean up.
