New drug discovery is a long expensive process and pharma companies only have 20 years (patent life) to earn back their R&D costs before anyone can just copy it. So there has to be an incentive to investor we won’t have new drugs, and that incentive is the ability to earn profits for their shareholders and principals.
Unless you want to depend on government to do drug development, with it’s typical “efficiency”.
I have trouble pronouncing “chloroquine” so I just call them “Trump Pills.”

Prevention is everything. It’s the key to normalcy. I don’t see how we go back to any large gatherings without it. No Masters no Dery in fact few if any sports no rallys on and on.

Doctors are now hoarding chloroquine all over the country and pharmacies are in dire straits. Doctors are writing prescriptions for family members when they’re not sick.
This is a testament to their belief that the drug works.
a much better bet would to bet on the companies with an instant finger-stick IGM-IGG detection kit ... several are pretty far along ... looks like they just need to complete proper clinical trials to prove validity (percent false positives and false negatives) to the FDA ...

Viruses are not “creatures.” The are lower on the scale than bacterium. They replicate. And not even we’ll at that.

They can’t replicate on their own. They need to invade a cell and use the cell’s replicating mechanism to do that.
It’s quite a trick when you think about it.
What they do is nothing short of remarkable. They have a key to get into the cell. Then once they break inside they essentially take over the cells dna and insert their owns genes in it and the cells mechanism then produces the proteins necessary to make new virus and somehow all those proteins get assembled into new viruses, thousands of them!

You are correct, however what I find absolutely frightening is that multiple Governors have mandated not using the malaria drugs for COVID-19, to now include 2 Republican governors.
Does anyone have clarity on WHY?
I look at all this from the view of what-if my kids get it. The drugs work, so why in God’s name would you ban it? It’s only a matter of time till the Progressive PA Governor follows the rest.
