Cuomo is on national television daily, giving his coronavirus briefings, presenting as a man of action and sympathy, fighting for his city and state that are being overwhelmed by the virus. He looks like a president.
And old Joe? Biden, the expected Democratic presidential nominee, remains lost, hapless, eclipsed and marginalized by events.
Biden has all but disappeared, like the time you were at the supermarket with your elderly uncle, and he wandered off, again. Frantic, you searched all the aisles until you finally found him asking the lady giving out samples for another taste of banana pudding.
“Biden is a melting ice cube,” wrote New York Democrat and antitrust litigator Lloyd Constantine on his blog, in a quote now widely circulated. “Those of us who have closely watched as time ravaged the once sharp or even brilliant minds of loved ones and colleagues, recognize what is happening to the good soldier Joe.”
Two weeks ago, Democrats were insisting he wasn’t as feeble as he seems, that he was not suffering from a lack of mental acuity, that Biden was the strong leader who would win the White House for Democrats and hand them the awesome imperial power over our lives.
But things are different now. Biden fades, and Cuomo is ascendant.

We want a feeble old man like Slow Joe to lead the country when he can’t even look after himself? NO!!!

Chicago Tribune. Now we know the fix is in. When the big media turn on a Dem candidate, it’s just a matter of time before they are gone. I think we’ll see a parade of MSM putting the knife into Biden over the month of April. He’ll have more holes in him than Julius Caesar. Et tu New York Times?
Once a boob always a boob. An entire lifetime and political career with nothing to show for it. And this nothing sandwich continues into his twilight years.
If it were any other old man I’d feel sorry for him. Dementia and senile deterioration of the brain is really no laughing matter.
For Cuomo to really ascend, I think 2 things need to happen:
2) NY needs to get a handle on the virus. They need to be seen as a poster child for how to manage this existential crisis. The leadership of Andrew Cuomo needs to be seen as crucial in this fight.
2) The virus has to get worse. The US would have to see significant deaths in multiple locations. We’re not far above 1000 right now, and that number isn’t awe inspiring. If this virus gets worse in other locations, but is handled well in NY, Cuomo comes off as the hero.
But I think both of these things are unlikely. And Cuomo has no compelling case to make as to why he should be anointed Democrat nominee unless he can point to the virus situation. Other than that, he’s pretty much just a guy who decided not to participate in the primaries.
Puff piece he doesn’t look like a president he’s a typical Whiner. it’s always somebody else’s fault. after he leads the state into $6B budget deficit when times were good? and now look at him

Cuomo is the new flavor of the day for the RATS. Who’s next? Andy sounds more panicked with each passing day. Governor GRUEsom in CA will be “auditioned” next!
CUOMO WHINING AND COMPLAINING ABOUT MORE MONEY IS NOT THAT IMPRESSIVE. SORRY, DEMS, JUST FACE IT...YOU HAVE...NOBODY.
Yeah well Cuomo didn’t just come into being 10 days ago. He’s been around for years and he hasn’t been what anybody would call effective.
Good soldier, Joe? More like, dog faced pony soldier, Joe. How I will miss his archaic metaphors!
Hindsight is always 20/20, but in retrospect the strategy the DNC implemented 4-6 weeks ago may be remembered as one of the biggest blunders in political history. They rigged their primary process to clear the path for the one candidate in that whole group of misfits who is LEAST equipped to manage a national crisis.
And IIRC, he’s been walking back his initial opposition to Trump’s idea of loosening restrictions by Easter. So he’s looking a tad silly with that and his other antics during the current situation.
Why didn’t Cuomo act when give information his state was not prepared for a pandemic? Why study the problem if he was going to ignore it? What the heck has he been doing?
I agree.
And I think they saw their mistake too late and since then have tried to pivot to Cuomo, but I think he’s coming up short. Who will be next? Not Bernie. Not Biden. Not Cuomo (IMO). Maybe they really will have to decide between Michelle, Oprah and Hillary.
