I think the poll bump is temporary, caused by a rallying-around-the-flag effect during “war time”. After the crisis, Trump’s poll numbers will take a hit once he loses the aura of a wartime leader.

Fifty percent of the country, the ones watching the anti-Trump version of reality, haven’t really seen Trump in action. They have always believed the Fake News filter.
Other crises in the last 3 years haven’t hit home like Corona virus has. People are concerned, so they watch the TV conferences. And they appreciate the updates, the safety warnings, the transparency, the reassuring actions, and the hope they bring.
