Last week we reported that Joe Biden was planning to hold regular shadow-briefings on the coronavirus pandemic--a campaign gimmick to undermine public faith in the federal government's response to the pandemic, while promoting himself as a leader in charge who can handle the situation better than Trump.
If today's inaugural shadow-briefing is any indication, it's not going to go well for Biden.
"We can put politics aside and meet the moment like governors all across this nation are doing," Biden said, before listing off the names of governors he says are meeting the challenge. When he got to the governor of Massachusetts, he made a major flub, referring to him as “Governor Charlie Parker in Massachusetts.”
Baker, a Republican, was elected in 2014, and has become one of the nation's most popular governors.
Biden's regular gaffes have sparked speculation of his cognitive decline, and raised doubts about his ability to handle the pressures of the presidency. If his future shadow-briefings deliver more gaffes like this one, it's conceivable this strategy could backfire on him. It's already been established that Biden has been taking actions Trump has already taken in response to the pandemic, and passed them off as his own ideas. But what really gets me is Biden's hypocrisy. He says we should "put politics aside and meet the moment," during his own shameless political stunt.
