It did. Nasty P Lousy wants her own version. She doesn’t care if more people die.

You are far too kind. Her behavior is indistinguishable from that of someone who WANTS more people to die so she can blame those deaths on her enemy.

Trump will pin this squarely on the Democrats like a tail on a donkey.

They will succumb rapidly.

“7 authors? Times must be slow...”

my theory has always been the more “reporters”, the faker the news, because most “reporters” don’t have enough imagination to make up “good” fake news, so it takes lots more of them when the news needs to be REALLY, REALLY, REALLY fake ...

7500 people die in the US every single day. From a wide variety of causes. Many of these causes are far far more prevalent than the c virus, including the flu.

We don’t shut the economy down for any of these other causes. Why is the government doing it for this one cause?

Never let a crisis go to waste?

Well, I was finally headed for bed, but made the mistake of one last run by the computer to check weather radar, and saw this post:

And as concerns the death rate in NY, (now 117 deaths out of 15,793 cases) NYC is Only Testing for COVID-19 in Patients Needing Hospitalization(https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/nyc-only-testing-for-covid-19-in-patients-needing-hospitalization/2336641/).

In other words, 15,793 cases in NYC needed hospitalization at the time you wrote the above.

How the heck many hospital beds does NYC have??!!

Well, that's fairly easy to look up: ~36,000 "regular" beds, and 2,136 ICU beds. https://www.lohud.com/story/news/local/new-york/2020/03/18/hudson-valley-nyc-coronavirus-hospital-bed-shortage/5068189002/ If COVID-19 is "no worse than the flu", then the present demand for hospital beds in NYC is at least 31,586 beds, NOT INCLUDING any other needs other than COVID-19 and flu.

In fact, though, this time of year hospital beds are generally 75% or more in use BEFORE adding in COVID-19.

So, that means ~27,000 beds + 15,793 beds are already needed, exceeding current capacity.

In fact capacity has not yet been exceeded, although present trends say it will be, soon. Right now, however, the only possible conclusion is that NYC is Only Testing for COVID-19 in Patients Needing Hospitalization

is an erroneous statement. My guess is that it is 2-3 days old news.

I'd also note that many posters are missing that the 650k infected persons number is "best case", and best case assumes near Chinese level restrictions on travel and contacts. A "tall order" as the article put it. Most likely, all the idiots who went out and partied on St. Patty's Day have already blown that up.

More critical is the estimated need in the NYC region for 18,600 - 37,200 ICU beds, again, just for COVID-19. They have 2136.

Two things.

Go back to the 1st sentence in the article: In other words, 650,000 cases is essentially best case. Best case is cutting the transmission rate in half, a “tall order”.

Indeed. Doing that requires either a near Chinese-style lockdown (isn’t going to happen) or SK style surveillance and contact tracing (we might get close on the tracing but have nowhere near the surveillance capacity. The SK system translates into an incredible 70 million cameras in NYC.)

Second, even if we could get there, “only” 650,000 infections would be manageable — except that present health care demands (flu, heart disease, etc.) leave little reserve in the system.

In reality, the numbers are more like:

Actually that was from 3:20 but is still being broadcast by NBC in the video and test. As well as yesterday: NYC cancels remote coronavirus testing to focus on ... https://www.kalmykphilly.org/2020/03/22/nyc-cancels-remote-coronavirus-testing-to...

Mar 22, 2020 · The city put the brakes on planned remote coronavirus testing sites Sunday and will instead divert resources to testing facilities at area hospitals.

Meanwhile, 1 day ago · NEW YORK — The state is ordering New York hospitals to expand their capacity by at least 50 percent to prepare for an expected influx of COVID-19 patients, (https://news.yahoo.com/york-hospitals-ordered-add-beds-000000513.html).

I was using hard, cold numbers from Johns Hopkins site, not some “expert” opinion. Remember, the “experts” predicted that Comrade Clinton would win in 2016 in a historical landslide.

Have they been promised that they will be the official Communist Party paper when they ruin the economy and the gov takes over everything?

Otherwise, it would seem that they need some advertisers to stay afloat.
