If economy people could override national defense people John McCain and Mitt Romney would both have been president.
That is not the case.
Properly there are three big issues and to defeat the socialists in a national election a nationalist candidate will have to be conservative in both stated goals and established track record on securing the borders, the economy, and not killing the unborn.
The time when a candidate could run on two out of the three or even one out of the three is over. Trump brought in enough people who hadn’t been voting previously with his secure borders agenda that he overwhelmed the Democrat vote harvesting machine even with the Neocons largely defecting to Hillary Clinton.
His relentless efforts to dismantle the abortion industry will bring in another group who had been kicked to the sidelines by empty promises.
November is still going to be a hard slog and 2024 even more so.
Every candidate who cannot deliver to all three of those constituencies has already lost 2024. Hopefully just in the primaries but if they do not get weeded out there then the Democrats will have already won the general.

I agree completely, but if it shuts down the entire economy, causes us to go into a depression (which is likely), well, you know who benefits, the first hint is, it isn’t the American people.

about what I thought, halfway through there are no healthy people. Do you believe that? It would be different than any disease I’ve experienced, and growing up raising cattle, I’ve seen disease go through a population. It’s cute, and serves their purpose.
I’m with ya, pardner! However, I’m not so sure I’m all-in on Wysong’s logic about the Wuhan virus saving America. Another by-product of this hysteria is a more fearful and larger population of Americans who are likely to adopt and rely on the “What’s government going to do?” attitude.
I’m hopeful that we’ll begin to repatriate or re-establish the production of not just pharmaceuticals (few of which were ever made in the US), but also vitamins and other supplements. THAT would be a major victory and if it’s followed by reducing our dependence on China for other critical products, so much the better.
In any event, I think DJT will come out of this as one of the few adults in the room...
I wonder. I think that a lot of people will be galvanized to question Government's decisions. Certainly that is the attitude I see on the various political sites I travel on. Having looked at all the numbers I am madder than a wet hen at how CDC & WHO have been playing fast & loose with the responsibilities they have had & the trust the people have placed in them. They have abrogated all responsibility into the hands of medical modelers whose idea of information, with a 1200 raw data count of Influenza deaths during fku season 2019-2020, is to estimate between 22K & 55K deaths from flu this season.

Every patient has a death certificate with cause of death, why don't we use data instead of models created like those of Global Warming Fake News with fudge factors & guesswork hidden by scientific sounding trappings? I agree completely, but entirely anecdotal, first-hand experience locally tells me a LOT of people are buying all the BS and waiting for government to save them and tell them what to do. A buddy of mine manages the local Starbucks (no, he’s not a liberal) and told me their business is down to less than 5% of normal; he expects that they’ll close down soon. FWIW, they’re offering only takeout. A couple “neighbors” (I don’t have any close neighbors) got into a bit of an argument about property boundaries yesterday. My property surrounds theirs and I offered to get my surveyor over to settle the issue, but when I called him, he said, “I’m not going anywhere until this coronavirus thing comes to an end.” I ended up using my OnX hunt app to settle the issue...
You are right but when the dust settles people will feel played and want accountability. Some people..because others will be thanking their lucky stars & saying we need more G’vt control.
We will have to see how it plays out.
All in all though the biggest gain will be the return of the production of essential medicines & supplies to American soil. That is ginormous and DJT is all over it.
