Been thinking that for days now.
Record high employment, booming economy.
Election year.
Orange Man Bad.
In this case, blame and clear causality can be established.
The media causes the public to panic, not the other way around.
I'd say your suspicions are accurate.
The following kind of puts things in perspective.
CDC estimates* that, from October 1, 2019, through March 7, 2020, there have been:
36,000,000 – 51,000,000 flu illnesses
17,000,000 – 24,000,000 flu medical visits
370,000 – 670,000 flu hospitalizations
22,000 – 55,000 flu deaths
And how about the 2018 flu season in the U.S.
CDC: 80,000 people died of flu last winter in U.S., highest death toll in 40 years.
Same here. I could be wrong but to me it feels like something dark is riding/using this "wave".

When Mr. GG2 and I were standing in line at Kroger on day one of the grocery store panic there was a guy in front of us that said he worked for the CDC. He said this is just a rehearsal for the big one that they think is coming in 2 years that is going to kill millions.
Yesterday I was talking to my sister and she mentioned that it kind of feels like a contrived dress rehearsal for something bigger.
Any rational person at this point has to be trying to figure out how we find ourselves in a worldwide hysteria with no toilet paper over a virus that has hardly killed anyone. I mean those are the hard facts. Its hardly killed anyone which means its either not that infectious or not that deadly or both.
So, what is the reason for all the panic. The media and govt officials are almost 100% to blame for all this panic. IMO Trump has been caught in the tide and finally decided he had to go with the surge and why let a good crisis go to waste. He’s managed to get the Fed to zero which would have taken him way longer without the panic.

Totally agree. If people don’t think this is completely political, they’re deluding themselves. I don’t like that Trump and Pence are buying into the panic but I guess they don’t have much of a choice.
