Spit my coffee, but now I'm hungry.
In this case the Dem leadership is the pig. They feel threatened by the coronavirus.
In retrospect, maybe they shouldn't have opposed all of Trumps initiatives. They should also feel threatened by the flu....I got it last season...lethargic, joint pain, knocked me down....not fun.
They'll be exposed to one or both eventually.
Say what ? That would be Vancouver, WA , right ? not BC
Let's say it's .6%...most people don't die from it, but here, the flu has already killed over 10,000, sickened 19 million. Chicom virus, 40+ deaths, over 1/2 in one building...80% in one state. I'm sticking with the So Korea stats.
The recovered patients will have antibodies.
Oh, and for those that keep pointing to the elderly death rate, we might find out that's because socialized medicine is already practicing triage. That is, the infection rate might be common across all generations, but the young are receiving advanced care.
Well, let's see what happened to the caregivers in that WA nursing home....Or is that RATagandist top secret?
You know, you’re not really wrong.
The Bee Gees were pretty dang good then.
And when the radio plays a disco song I can almost always sing along, word for word.
In 1977-78 I used to frequent the Colorado Springs discos because they served 3.2 beer which was legal at 18.
Met lots of pretty girls.
Man, was I a stud, {sigh}...
I did say “properly structured”.
(not panic driven mayhem)
Whaddya mean "we" white man?
Buy stock now!!!
I would assert we are not Italy for very obvious and not so obvious reasons. First, Italy was slow off the mark in recognizing the risk of the virus to its population despite cutting off flights from China on January 31st, four days earlier than the US. Italy was the first and only EU country to have a direct flight ban from China. There was a direct flight from Wuhan to Rome. Obviously, the virus had already been rampant in China before January 31st when the flights were stopped.
The problem is that Italy is a member of the EU and signatory to the Schengen agreement, an area comprising 26 European states that have officially abolished all passport and all other types of border control at their mutual borders. The area mostly functions as a single jurisdiction for international travel purposes, with a common visa policy. The passengers from China could just fly to a neighboring country and cross into Italy. No border controls.
Based on my experience of living in Naples for two years and traveling throughout Italy, I don't have a high opinion of Italian medical facilities and practices compared to the US. When you compare the data from Italy to South Korea, which is somewhat comparable considering scale of the number of confirmed cases and deaths, there is a stark difference in results.
Data as of March 14 show that South Korea had 8,086 confirmed cases and 72 total deaths. Italy has had 17,660 confirmed cases and 1,268 deaths. South Korea has a population of 52 million compared to Italy's 62 million. Both have relatively old populations with Italy having the fifth oldest population in the world with a median age of 46.5 years and Korea having the 29th with a median age of 43.2. Age matters when it comes to vulnerability to the virus. Why is Italy doing so poorly combating the virus compared to Korea, the US, or many other countries?
Italy's bureaucracy is famously inefficient and tedious. I got married in Italy. The process is lengthy and contorted needing countless stamps from countless offices. This contributes to Italians ignoring the rules and regulations across all facets of life. It is a different culture. It is like herding cats.
US hospitals have not experienced increase demand *because* of the anticipatory quarantine efforts imposed in order to flatten the curve ie they are actually working. Faulting success as proof of an assertion is an interesting way of viewing the world and factual data.
LOL. Those measures were instituted just days ago. Reported cases of the virus in the US began in early January. We have only recently ramped up testing to get a better handle on how many people actually have the virus. What we are not seeing are massive numbers of people flooding the hospitals or large numbers of deaths from the virus. Ohio claims to have 100,000 cases and Texas estimates that there are 300,000. If you accept that the virus takes 5 to 14 days to manifest itself, why have we not seen a major increase in the numbers at our hospitals or in the morgue? Is it because most people consider it to be just another case of the flu and self-treat themselves at home? Is it any more deadly than the generic flu? We really don't have the data to make those determinations.
I'm sort of curious why you're taking such an obtuse position.
Obtuse to you. Not me. I was a government bureaucrat for 36 years, including at the SES level. I don't view government as being infallible or even competent depending on the circumstance. I pray that this is not an incidence of crying wolf. The final data will be dispositive. The damage we have done to the economy is immense. The Dems have a vested interest in taking down the Trump economy as do members of the Resistance in Deep State. I remain skeptical.
You've got to accentuate the negative
Eliminate the positive
And latch on to the negative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
LOL, really is quite amazing that the reaction on this site with some of the smartest and most informed people on the planet has been so destructive!!! Such a shame GEEZE!!!

Try not to be one.
The pharmacist acted like he didn't want to give it to me. I asked him; "Which is worse, 70 bucks or getting the flu", He said, "getting the flu".
I got the shot elsewhere.
(the little weasel)
The press conference got rave reviews from the public and polled well so the media has to do damage control this weekend.
The mediots had their guy in charge so the 100,000 dead was good management and likely saved lives. Here 50 dead are because of Trump.
Now there needs to be one or more against the RATagandists and the RATs.
How old are the Clintons?
