The wall is doing what it is designed to do, to stop 99 percent of conga-line of millions who were previously walking in unabated.
I agree there isn’t a single driver to illegal immigration, actually invasion. The USA is the richest country because of our previous method of government. Now Democrats are trying to destroy that just so they can have the thrill of telling millions of people what to do.
Invasion by a vast wave of thieves from central and South America coming to steal welfare from the taxpayers helps their goal. The Catholic Church gets large amounts of cash from the government via Catholic Charities and uses these invaders as the excuse. So the church works hand in glove with the Democrats. They’re bought and paid for with our tax money. Michelle Malkin has written quite a bit about this. If someone is coming to rob you do you hold the door open for them and feel bad if they trip and fall on the way in?

I agree the Church has certainly been complicit, and it has hurt them badly; it is an unpopular approach to many of the people that were voluntarily funding the Church - and now they aren’t. If I don’t pay for my house or car, they are seized by lenders; what happens if I don’t give at Mass? In the past I felt a responsibility to fund my parish; today not so much. I live paycheck to paycheck raising a family, I have debts, and the parish has plenty of money in comparison (not the larger Church - I can’t speak to that - but the parish).
If they want to assist in burdening us with these foreigners (preventing any corrective action on the other end), then I feel no responsibility to contribute to the destruction of our way of life by subsidizing it. The Church that provided healthcare and education to countless Catholics (and many others) is shutting down, to be replaced by one that engages in liberal activism.
I don’t advocate for a married clergy, but just like the news story a couple of years ago that pointed out how many of Europe’s “open borders” politicians were childless - and therefore indifferent to the consequences of their actions - the Church has the same problem. The childless clergy in control will never reap the long-term consequences of their foolish - and unchristian - actions.
