Devin Nunes: 'Deep state' is 'much worse than even I thought it ever was'

The scope of the "deep state" caught one top Republican by surprise.

California Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, spoke to Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday about his efforts to raise awareness of bureaucracy within the federal government believed to be undermining President Trump.

"One thing that I tell the American people every time that I speak and I go out on the road and I talk to people is that, remember, the deep state here is much worse than even I thought it ever was," Nunes said in an interview along with Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican, to talk about efforts to renew and reform parts of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

Trump’s distrust of people inside the White House and the federal government has intensified since his impeachment and acquittal, and he believes his government is filled with “snakes” he wants to be fired and replaced. Steps are already being taken to weed them out.

A network of conservative activists led by Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, is helping compile detailed memos of disloyal government officials they want to be fired, while also finding Trump loyalists to replace them, according to Axios.

Nunes, a key Trump ally who was instrumental in drawing attention to alleged government surveillance abuses against the president's 2016 campaign and leakers, also touched on the 2020 election while promoting a website he started, DefendUSA.com, to combat "the radical left, fake news media, and deep state."

The congressman said Sen. Bernie Sanders, a socialist from Vermont who is the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, is their preferred candidate.

"People have to remember that this is one yard in a cloud of dust. You have to wake up every day to fight, because the socialist Left, they work hard to take over the Democratic Party. They work hard to get Bernie Sanders in the lead," Nunes said. "They're not going away."

So Nunes will be voting down any FISA reauthorization then.

Actually, until you fully understand that they are willing to kill on a massive scale to save their hides, you really don't understand how bad it is. If they thought setting off a nuke in an American city would further their aims, they'd do it without hesitation. In fact, I fully expect to see such a gambit played out in my lifetime. The clue that it is a deep state operation will be that it will be in what they consider to be an 'unimportant' city, most likely in flyover country.

Heck, just look at "Miss Hillary Clintoon" who has not even seen a jail or courtroom for the lawlessness that has been going around her, period. Folks are telling us that she will never see any type of jail sentence or courtroom.

Here I thought that we would not be content until we saw her going into a courtroom with an orange jumpsuit, ankle braces, and hand cuffs but it sounds like she is not going to jail at all.

We have heard that she bleached all of her files in her personal computer and hammered away at her cell phones which was against the law to do so.

Lately I've been watching (on DVD) the 1960s alien-invasion TV series "The Invaders," in which an alien species has assumed human form and is infiltrating all aspects of society as a prelude to a takeover of the entire earth. It's striking how much this reminds me of the Deep State and of the ever-increasing leftist control of our institutions.

The aliens' methods of control are very similar to those of the left: ridicule of those humans who have discovered what is going on; preying on the sense of human guilt over our own failures and historical sins; the use of sexual seduction and promises of rewards for cooperation with the aliens; the adoption of high-sounding rhetoric and profession of noble objectives; and - in the two-part episode I am watching now - the use of a fake or artificially-induced worldwide environmental crisis to lure world leaders to a conference at which they will be killed.

Although it only lasted two seasons, it's a pretty good series, starring Roy Thinnes and featuring many prominent guest stars of the time - Peter Graves, Ed Asner, Andrew Duggan, Michael Rennie, Edward Andrews, Susanne Pleshette, Richard Johnson (Gilligan's professor), Norman Fell, and many others whose faces you would recognize, if not their names.

Upon reflection, some of the plots contain very implausible elements, but it's fun anyway. (In one episode, the aliens install a "hurricane-control machine" in the sanctuary of a Catholic church, rather than in some secluded spot.)
