Sotomayor issues blistering dissent, says Republican-appointed justices have bias toward Trump administration

Supreme Court Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor issued a scathing rebuke of the court's decision to allow the Trump administration to enforce its "public charge" rule in the state of Illinois, limiting which non-citizens can obtain visas to enter the U.S.

Sotomayor's problems with the conservative majority's ruling went far beyond this case, claiming that it was symptomatic of the court's habit of siding with the government when they seek emergency stays of rulings against them.

"It is hard to say what is more troubling: that the Government would seek this extraordinary relief seemingly as a matter of course, or that the Court would grant it," Sotomayor wrote in her dissent.

This particular case, Wolf v. Cook County, deals with the Trump administration's expansion of situations where the government can deny visas to non-citizens looking to enter the U.S. Federal law already says that officials can take into account whether an applicant is likely to become a "public charge," which government guidance has said refers to someone "primarily dependent on the government for subsistence.” In the past, non-cash benefits such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), forms of Medicaid, and certain housing assistance did not count, but the Department of Homeland Security issued its new public charge rule in 2019 which did include these benefits.

Yeah. This Sotomayer comment is not made in a vacuum. The odd timing, the content, lacking any other context. Very odd in deed. Breyer and Kagsn are the lower IQ justices, just not very smart. Sotomayer stricks me as having some wisdom and has to know this type of comment pushes all the wrong buttons. There has to be a cost associated with it, But damed if I know what it could be other than sheer desperation and real fear

Of course she was appointed to SCOTUS by Caliph Baraq, but enough Republicans approved to confirm her.

High IQ leftist judges know how to cover their tracks when they write opinions.

This one? Not so much...

Listen fatass, in the first place its the law and Trump is only enforcing it and secondly, if all of your liberal buddies in the judiciary would quit issuing stay orders you wouldn’t have to be bothered with actually doing your job.

That coming from someone who nowhere neared having qualifications to be on the Supreme Court. Better that she shut up and make her “Bias toward Obama” rulings,

Cry me a river.
Perhaps if the Wise Latina would show us even one occasion that she voted against the Obama regime who appointed her, we can begin to talk.
Not to mention President Trump has had to the tune of FOURTY nationwide injunctions by activist Obama judges in just 3 years as compared to only two against Obama in eight years. The Supremes have no alternative but to slap down these far left crazy District Court judges from Hawaii and from the 9th Circuit.

Forget about the bias, o wise Latina — what does the law say.

Evidently, Chief Justice John Roberts is the only living American who still believes there are no Democrat or Republican judges.

Is their bias toward Trump or the Constitution?

Constitution? She don’t need no steenkin’ constitution. According to the left, it’s merely a rough guide on how to do things. Not like it’s written in stone and some of the words don’t REALLY mean what they say.

How many times has the Wide Latina voted for any issue that would give Pres. Trump a win? How about Ruth Bader Ginsburg? Democrat appointed SCOTUS justices vote as a bloc, so quit whining about the Five doing the same. We must work and pray that Pres. Trump will be able to appoint more Constitutionalists to the Supreme Court.

Hopefully she will find herself standing almost alone soon.

Trump may get the chance to nullify her and her sister dingbat on the court. Now wouldn’t that be fun?
