Greyhound says it will STOP Border Patrol agents without warrants from boarding buses to make immigration checks on passengers

Greyhound says it will stop allowing Border Patrol agents without a warrant to board its buses to conduct routine immigration checks.

The nation's largest bus company made the announcement on Friday - a week after The Associated Press reported on a leaked Border Patrol memo confirming that agents can't board private buses without the consent of the bus company.

Greyhound had previously insisted that even though it didn't like the immigration checks, it had no choice under federal law but to allow them.

n an emailed statement, the company said it would notify the Department of Homeland Security that it does not consent to unwarranted searches on its buses or in areas of terminals that are not open to the public - such as company offices or any areas a person needs a ticket to access.

Stop the bus. Make everyone get off. Problem solved.

Warrants shouldn’t be a problem... unless they are routed through liberal judges.

“What? There are no liberal judges, only judges,” you say. Bwahahaha.

STOP THE BUSES and let the occupants wait inside in the hot sun.

Then, ICE can let the rascals make a choice.

These buses operate under the direction of the Federal Dept. of Transportation. Pull the driver’s license.

Virtue signaling.

Clean up your filthy buses and build some bus stations that don’t have corrals still attached to them.

Border checkpoints have been stopping buses for years. This won’t change. A 70K a year bus driver isn’t going to defy law enforcement, face jail, and trails to satisfy some upper management of greyhound

Can RBG survive another 4 more years?
Is her hatred for the country and Trump that strong?
Such a bitter old hag. ...

Hey, Greyhound can do this.

Now,it may just happen that BP will have to detain the bus and all passengers as is where is, not letting them off the bus at all, while they obtain the warrant, but I’m not gonna dispute Greyhound’s right..

Who has the power and authority over the Interstate Commerce Commission? These bus companies are subject to ICC and my guess is that ICC would come under either Treasury or Transportation.

RBG’s survival is an open question.

But warrants for a bus search would be done at a much lower level than the Supreme Court.

Also, they don’t have to board and search the bus—they can just interrogate everyone who gets on or off at the bus station, which isn’t under Greyhound ownership.

“He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us”

Funny you should mention that. Although Greyhound is HQ’d in Texas, it’s owned by a British company.

Wow....that’s going to make it time consuming. Pull over and everyone off the bus. There’s no way that they’re going to let a busload of people and whatever else just waltz in.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated...
U.S. Constitution, 4th Amendment.

They must have at lease reasonable suspicion ("specific reason to believe a crime is being committed") to stop the bus and need probable cause ("fair probability a crime is underway") to search and seize.

In this case if not a warrant then at lease probable cause.

Yes. Detain the bus and occupants until warrants are obtained and this nonsense will be reversed in a week.

Good luck getting past the checkpoints. I foresee the entire Greyhound bus inventory being held at the San Onofre station, pending inspection...

Sounds like Greyhound buses need to be subjected to a lot of roadside safety checks, log book reviews, drivers’ documentation and on and on until they get their heads straight.
