A few days prior to President Donald J. Trump (R)'s compassionate announcement that he was pardoning or granting clemency to individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including many Democrats such as disgraced Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, thus "making a point about government overreach in prosecutions, as well as reminding people about his First Step Act, which brings reformed (mostly minority) prisoners home," two professors released a study proving:
Chicago Is The Most Corrupt City In The U.S., According To New Study
Chicago remains America's most corrupt city, and Illinois the third-most corrupt state, according to a new report from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The report, co-authored by UIC professor and former Ald. Dick Simpson, is based on an analysis of the public corruption statistics published by the U.S. Department of Justice. ...
The DOJ's data used contains statistics from 1976 through the end of 2018.
(Yes, that Department of Justice, and yes, the report definitely covers the years when Chicagoan Barack H. Obama [D] served in the Illinois state Legislature, represented Illinois as a senator and served as president of the United States. Just thought I'd clear that up.)
The report continues:
"Our study shows that Chicago remains the most corrupt city in the United States with 1,750 total public corruption convictions from 1976 through 2018," Simpson said. "This number is even more troubling when compared to the second-place city, Los Angeles, which has had 200 fewer convictions in that time period," Simpson said.
The last Republican mayor of Chicago's term ended in 1931, while 2001 was the final year of Republican Richard Riordan's reign over Los Angeles. (I just thought you'd find this information useful.)

Only #3 in a state with the #1 corrupt major city? Well, who are numbers one and two?
The District of Columbia was No. 1, while Louisiana was No. 2. The states of New York, California, Texas and Florida each had more total corruption convictions than Illinois, but their populations are larger, placing them lower in the ranking.
That’s been that way for decades.
DeBlasio (or whatever the Hell his name is) says: HOLD MY BEER!
in the 1920’s, the Torrio-Capone and Dion Obanion crime gangs so thoroughly corrupted Chicago...it simply never recovered...to this day. Amazing...
It’s a little unfair to rank DC as the most corrupt state because relatively little is from city government. Most is federal where minor league sleazes from their home states hit the major league pig trough.
Yes. And it's all Trump's fault!!
I recall reading in either Newsweek or Time, maybe in 1958 about Illinois and Chicago being totally corrupt.
If they wanted more bribe money they would simply introduce a bill which their rich constituents opposed. Then they would get bribes to defeat it which they did and did.
Generations of low-info, hard-wired Chicago voters have always been the root cause of it.
Even when crime and ruin are everywhere, these voters can’t see the forest for the trees.
What is the religious foundation there?
The DC municipal government is extremely corrupt! It’s what you encounter if your foolish enough to be a resident, or you come as a visitor and need some action done. Its not very likely you would encounter the greater FedGov employees in any normal way.
I heard ex speaker Boehner and the house rep that aoc beat are in partnership to get Congress to bail out the various union pension funds. I guess we’re lucky neither hold office.
How did Washington State not make this list. Or Oregon for that matter.
Washington State is so massively corrupt. Builders somehow manage to get permits for building massive apartment buildings in wetlands.
That isn’t happening in the People’s Soviet of Washington unless somebody is being greased.
There’s a problem with this. confirmation bias. They’re talking about convictions. That’s only the ones that got caught and nailed, i.e. the most egregiously stupid ones.
New Jersey demands a recount!
