The best thing in the long term that government can do to help farmers is to keep completely away from agriculture. Trade deals are fine and are greatly needed. Government needs to stop picking winners and losers, promoting one product over another, and subsidizing anything. Btw, I need someone to show me where in the constitution agriculture is mentioned.

The left attacks farmers because they are what’s good about America. Modern agriculture is extremely hi-tech. I’d venture to say our farmers produce more per acre than any other country.
And such a high production rate is the real problem, for no one is really starving that does not want to be.
The commies are great at taking out their own farmers - think Soviet Russia, Pol Pot’s Cambodia, Rhodesia and what’s going on in S Africa now.
