The iconic Plymouth Rock, the landmark that marks where the Pilgrims landed the Mayflower 400 years ago, has been vandalized with graffiti, photos from the scene show
It was among several historic landmarks that appeared to have been tagged by vandals.
The rock, which has the date 1620 chiseled into it, is now covered in red graffiti.
Photos from the scene also show red paint on a statue and red paint sprayed on a stone bench.

I noticed the number “508”, the area code for Plymouth, in the spray painting. When I was a school boy, visiting the landmark, decades ago, we were harassed by local punks, more than once. Something tells me that their successors were the “brains” behind this caper . . .
Those were local Indians, I’d bet; the same ones who bully and harass Pilgrim costumed marchers on Thanksgiving Day.
IIRC, this is not the first time the rock has been vandalized or sprayed with graffiti...............
I thought the rock was covered by a shelter of some sort and was inside a metal rail fenced in area.................
