Leading with that statement about reducing the man-made carbon load to zero, was only to gain the attention of those folks that have an irrational fear of carbon dioxide. Turns out, they have an even more irrational fear of nuclear energy, or so they claim. Command-and-control regimes have an irrational fear of ANYBODY having access to cheap energy, because cheap energy is what fuels large-scale capitalism.

The world NEEDS that tiny amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, because that is the fountain that sustains ALL life on earth. Without carbon dioxide present, every green plant in the world would sicken and die. Carbon dioxide is plant food. And also incidentally, it is the source of renewal of the oxygen supply of our atmosphere.

Good summary.

A thorium rector not producing fissile plutonium is both an advantage and a disadvantage.

As far as I’m concerned, Iran can build as many thorium reactors as it wants.

True but it’s a pretty critical gas even in the small amount that exists.

Whatever...ALL atmospheric gases are "greenhouse gases".

Don't buy the lie...4/1000ths is a rounding error.

Please take a look at this video and others that speak to the farce that is being perpetrated on mankind about CO2 and carbon

Basically correct but misses the point. Fossil is not clean, although the left has coopted the word. Also extra CO2 winds up in the ocean with pH lowered from 8.2 to 8.1 in the last century. The pH was headed lower but at a much slower rate for the past million years. By 2100 we will lower the pH to the 7.7 or so. Once you add/subtract the daily cycle of about 1 unit that gives us a 7.2 at the low end which is pretty low.

Hmmm..at least you haven’t been drinking the kool aid...merely sipping it, IMHO.

PS - How’s that acid rain working out for you? The leftist progressives are quite imaginative when coming up with new boogie men to mislead the public into supporting their efforts to weaken and destroy Western Civilization.

Want to do more, ban disposable diapers 500 yrs to decompose.

Make items easy to use and reusable. Tip you do your Blood Sugar for diabetes save the old bottle, then dump the new strips into the old bottle. It makes the Coding side go in the right way on the bottom, Idiots put them in Coding side you get many errors, turn them upside down, making less errors, the Blood up take doesn’t have that issue, saves money. Then I use the new empty bottle for small beads, sewing needles, or pills I need to carry in my purses.

From your link: "While it is true that, all-other-factors-held-equal, seawater pH should decline as atmospheric CO2 levels rise…"

All other factors are never held equal."

But most other factors are mostly equal. For the most part higher atmospheric CO2 does produce lower ocean pH. There are many other factors that raise and lower pH, mainly ocean currents which control upwelling. Like PDO as pointed out in that article. There's also a diurnal cycle close to shore of 1 unit of pH.

Mostly though the argument presented in the article is that pH of 8.1 is not "acidic" and 8.2 dropping to 8.1 is not "acidification". That's true. But it's a semantic argument.

BTW, Koolaid is pH 3, and 1/3 of the cost of my coal plant (which I own 50% of because of where I live) was for acid rain reduction. That's some myth they spent that money on.

Soooo...

Conservatives are taking credit for improvement to a phony statistic that is part of a liberal agenda?

Will we cheer when its announced that less Americans own “assault” rifles while [insert GOP POTUS] is in office?

Exactly, but the actual retort to combat the lying AGW freaks should be my comment that "There is no CO2 in the atmosphere" and let the burden of proof be on them.

I also agree with your comments on thorium reactors.

I think xp38 was referring to photosynthesis (plant growth and oxygen production) when he said “critical gas.”

“When we take credit for CO2 reduction that is not needed, we are playing the Greta game. Greta’s crowd is not going to give us any credit for saying, “We’re not so bad — our emissions are lower than theirs.”

I disagree. THEY believe Co2 reduction is wonderful.

Doesn’t mean WE do.

But if THEY believe it, they should walk the walk. But they don’t, as usual the USA bears all the burden.

So, tariff the crap out of them until they step up.

They can stick to their (stupid) beliefs and we will finally be repaid all the monies Europe owes us.

Agreed, I've heard it said that we are in a historic "CO drought" and would be better off with a greener warmer planet, with longer growing seasons and happier plants.

Although not alone...we had -13F last night.

Thanks for the ping! Did you see this comment up-thread? I'm still laughing

"We should threaten Europe that if they don’t match our reductions, we will impose “climate change tariffs” on all their goods."

“Climate change”

Excellent post!

But don’t let them get away with changing the phrasing. It is “Global Warming”. They changed it to climate change because they were looking ridiculous because global warming conferences were getting canceled due to storms. Whenever someone tells me climate change I correct them, I’m not letting them control the narrative.
