MANILA/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday announced the termination of a two-decade-old Visiting Forces Agreement with the United States (VFA), delivering on threats to downgrade an alliance important to U.S. interests.

U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper called the decision "unfortunate" and said it would be a move in the wrong direction at a time when Washington and its allies were trying to press China to abide by "international rules of order" in Asia.

Duterte just signed over Philippines Sovereignty to Communist China

Welcome to the Philippines, Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China

Duterte ordered the Manila Water and Meralco (electricity) concessions to be sold to Communist Chinese companies, likewise, soon to force the ABS-CBN network off the air (CCTV is interested in running the network)

Why do politicians always act against the interests of their people?

They are being bribed. His war on drugs was nothing more than a means for the triads to consolidate power by removing small time Filipino dealers.

Duterte is a communist and China worshiper. A populist but a real problem for us.

If you want to blame someone else, Democrat senators like Durbin have been antagonizing Duterte.

Trump needs to do nothing of the kind. China will dispense the noogie, and they’ll come crawling back. Will Trump intervene? Eenie meenie minie—naah. See what the MSM insists he must do, and then do the opposite.

We could “hope” his pro American military will force him out, but not likely.

I had hope for the guy until he started killing small time dealers and leaving the triads alone.

“Duterte, who favors closer ties with China and Russia, pressed ahead with the termination despite a Senate hearing on the VFA last week during which his senior generals and defense and foreign ministers spoke in favor of it.”

Somehow I bet Duterte goes first, and fairly soon.

Pipe dream. The PI is strategically important, and if the Commie dinks get hold of it, particularly the Subic Bay naval base, Cubi Point airfield, and Clark airport & enterprise zone, they’re not giving any of it back.

The Chinese have bribed our politicians (Feinstein) and bureaucrats for a decade now!

Why deprive Filipinos the opportunity?
