He and his brother were born in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Union, and it appears that he held allegiance to a faction there.

A disloyal officer who violated the oath he swore to uphold and protect the Constitution, blatantly violated the chain of command and in my opinion engaged in mutinous behavior. He should be stripped of his rank and tossed into Leavenworth.
