Female Minority Staffers Ditch Warren's Campaign: 'Toxic Environment' Made Them Feel 'Tokenized'

Six minority women quit Elizabeth Warren's Nevada campaign staff this week, due an alleged "toxic environment" resulting in them feeling like "tokenized" minorities, according to a report from Politico.

"The six staffers have left the roughly 70-person Nevada team since November, during a critical stretch of the race," says the report. "Three of them said they felt marginalized by the campaign, a situation they said didn’t change or worsened after they took their concerns to their superiors or to human resources staff."

One staffer who left the campaign told Politico, “I felt like a problem — like I was there to literally bring color into the space but not the knowledge and voice that comes with it,” she said in an interview. “We all were routinely silenced and not given a meaningful chance on the campaign. Complaints, comments, advice, and grievances were met with an earnest shake of the head and progressive buzzwords but not much else.”

Three former staffers did not speak with Politico, but the three who did all had similar experiences.

Warren's campaign did not dispute the women's accounts, but claim this is an isolated issue and not part of a broader problem in the nationwide campaign.

“We strive for an inclusive environment and work hard to learn and improve,” said Kristen Orthman, Warren's campaign spokesperson. “We have an organization of more than a thousand people, and whenever we hear concerns, we take them seriously. It’s important that everyone who is part of our team has a voice and can be heard. That’s why we are proud that we have a unionized staff and clear processes for issues to be addressed.”

I can't help but grin just a little. Just shows how well the indoc has worked over the years. Hope they don't think they'll get any better treatment on the other demodrone contestant campaign ground troops. Will they be WOKE enough to make the correct choice in Nov? When it comes to the party of inclusion, if you ain't white, you ain't right. Sorry ladies. Please wake up and get off the plantation.

I’ll assure you that if any of these minorities were actually adding anything positive to the campaign, they would still be there.... and, with a raise.

Made Them Feel 'Tokenized'

Just like a black football coach who flies across the country for his Rooney Rule interview.

The backstabbers hopefully will spend some time in the future with Mitt Romney.

Help, or get out of the way.

Liz has 52 plans as far as I know to hand out “free” stuff and services.

But for some Democrats apparently, those 52 plans simply aren’t enough.

Rule number one in identity politics - white bosses are supposed to elevate protected classes based on skin color or gender sexual orientation, but they can never acknowledge that preferential treatment has been given. Said boss must pretend that preferential hires were afforded their position on merit and because they were the best of the best based on superior job performance.

On the other hand, preferential hires get to use their protected class as a club to beat co workers over the head to get their way. Any and all slights, real or perceived are due to innate racism and they are being discriminated against

It’s important that everyone who is part of our team has a voice and can be heard. That’s why we are proud that we have a unionized staff and clear processes for issues to be addressed.

Um--claiming that each team member has a voice and being proud of the unionized staff are mutually exclusive. Either they are individuals, or they are interchangeable elements of the group. Can't have it both ways.

My experience with political campaigns is that you’ve got to be pretty high up in the organization to suggest any new plans.

Was it beneath them to make phone calls, knock on doors, pass out/mail campaign literature?
