With chants, walkouts and a ripped-up speech, bitter partisanship dominates Trump’s State of the Union

Republicans cheered divisive lines, some Democrats walked out while Trump spoke, and Pelosi punctuated the night by tearing up the president’s speech while standing over his left shoulder as he wrapped up his remarks.

The Democrats, meanwhile, could barely contain their resentment.

When Trump urged lawmakers to send him a bill to lower prescription drug prices, promising he would “sign it into law without delay,” some Democrats leaped to their feet and, holding up three fingers, began chanting “H.R. 3! H.R. 3!” - a reference to a House-passed bill that would help do just that.

Toward the end of the speech, Pelosi had Trump’s written remarks laid in front of her in four piles, and as he finished, she picked up each pile and ripped it in half.

Four rips.

“It was the courteous thing to do considering the alternative,” Pelosi told reporters as she exited the chamber and headed to her office.

This state of the union should make for some great campaign videos.

Go through all of the things highlighted in the speech

Low unemployment
Low black unemployment
Increased women in the workforce
Supporting our children
Etc.

And after each one showing the Dems sitting on their hands scowling.

I would have like to see the alternative. Projectile vomiting, perhaps. What really ticked Democrats off was his denunciation of socialism, but WaPo won’t mention that.

We watched the entire State of the Union speech for the first time in years, including the rebuttal.

We noticed but ignored the petty, childish, and disrespectful behavior of the communists, as President Trump hit home run after home run.

The rebuttal was rather empty, citing nice things individuals can do to clean up the messes they themselves made in the once beautiful, but filthy cities. She was all talk but no action, expand Obamacare more... What is that!

The rebuttal was boring and ineffective.

CBS or one of the other alphabet networks had a panel insisting that the Democrats were polite and decorous with just the Pelosi moment gone awry, blaming it on righteous frustration. Somehow they missed the hissing and other sounds I heard in part of the speech and made no mention of the Democrats stone-faced and unresponsive to what would generally be considered non-partisan opportunties to pretend they liked American citizens.

The panel also ignored Pelosi not using the traditional introduction and just talked about Trump’s not shaking her hand. He also didn’t shake Pence’s hand. Usually he did shake hands with those he handed the documents to, either before or after, even after Pelosi was so rude last year.

No, no you wouldn’t. But what she would’ve like to do is a common sight on the streets of San Francisco and even in grocery stores. At least we were spared that.

I agree, the stone faced and unresponsive to what should have had the entire chamber cheering...not for President Trump, but the American people.

Truly that’s what caught my attention the most, next to what looked like Nancy was ready to vomit most of the speech, but that they refused to cheer the success of policies for the American people that are working.

DFW Fox 4 trashed the President’s SOTU address this morning also. They reported Pelosi’s act of tearing the speech as a badge of honor and condoned the antics of the Democratic house members. Then they went on to refute President Trump’s jobs record instead giving Obama the credit for the current low unemployment levels. It made me sick.
