President Donald Trump’s rallies continue to attract a broad coalition. While Democrats are trying to out-compete one another by moving further and further to the left, alienating many voters in the process, Trump pitched the GOP as a big tent party last night. And that shows in his audience.
Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale polls the audience at all of Trump’s rallies, and during last night’s rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, the figures showed Trump attracting Democrats and the previously politically-apathetic. “10.4% of attendees didn’t vote in 2016,” Parsale wrote in a tweet. And 26.3% were Democrats.
While New Jersey leans heavily Democrat, this audience composition continues a trend seen at recent rallies Trump has held in swing states.
At President Trump’s rally in Ohio, 42.5% of attendees identified as either Democrats or Independents. At his Wisconsin rally, the majority of attendees were not Republicans, with 57.8% identifying as Democrats or Independents.
It’s not just your perception that the Democrat Party is becoming increasingly left-wing. While the GOP has remained ideologically consistent since at least the 1980s, the Dems have veered further and further left, to the point where a self-described socialist is a series contender in their primary. As recently as 1994, an equal share of Democrats identified as conservative and liberal (while barely any Republicans ever identified as liberal).
Now the party’s range of ideology stretches from liberal to socialist. That’s not good for the country – but it is good for the electibality of their Republicans competitors.

Watched the NJ rally on line. On the Youtube channel I was on, there were 58k plus. ..also watching. I saw a half dozen other channels too. So add up the ticket holders and the streaming folks and I bet you are pushing 250k folks watching. ....really sucks to be Bernie and Liz. ...Joe? He’s too stupid to realize his career is over.
I still want Trump in do a rally in Connecticut. If he does, he’ll get people to vote for him. The CT Republicans would be there...and Trump could talk about the moronic governor...

Eye opening. Who to align with in 2020: hateful, twisted abortion lovers hell bent on destroying the country to give ultimate power to a bunch of crazed socialists or reasonable, rational, hard working Americans who just want the ability to support their families and have a good, decent life with freedom and opportunity?

actually, no. the GOP itself had substantially moved to the left itself, favoring open borders, favoring globalism, favoring “free” (unfair) trade, and overall favoring polices that were substantially beneficial to the plutocrats but substantially detrimental to the honest, taxpaying, working folk of our nation ...
we here at FR regularly railed against this GOPe/RINO/neocon cabal and lamented that we need a third party or for someone to seize the GOP party levers of power and transform the GOP party into the conservative party that they claimed to be, and into a party that actually promoted policies beneficial to the well-being of we the people ... and of course we all know that Donald J Trump is the one who actually effected that transformation that we had all been praying for ...
If this holds the landslide will be one of the biggest in history.

Democrat cheaters? Sure, but that's only part of the story - Stefanowski went into hiding as soon as he won the nomination. I feel badly for Marlkey, one of the (few) good guys.
