CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — In what they acknowledged is a long-shot bid, West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice and Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. urged unhappy Virginia counties Tuesday to secede and join a neighboring state where Democrats aren't in charge.
Both Justice, a Republican in a state where the GOP dominates the legislature, and Falwell, whose university is in Lynchburg, Virginia, said the invitation to join West Virginia sends a valid message.
“If you're not truly happy where you are, we stand with open arms to take you from Virginia or anywhere where you may be," said Justice, who's running for reelection. “We stand strongly behind the Second Amendment and we stand strongly for the unborn.”

We tried on Staten Island to secede from the city but they need actual working people to pay for the bums in the Bronx.
Imagine how politics would be very different, if portions of states could join wiht other states or form new states.
Many here have dreamed of most of New York forming a separate state from New York City.
Others talk of a new Illinois if Chicago could be dismembered from Illinois.
Rural Nevada wants a new state without Vegas or Reno. The State of Jefferson has been around for a long time - North Cali / South Oregon.

Just Gerrymander the Big Cities of the coastal Big States.
Move them to the new 51st Popular State.

If at first you don’t secede, try try again.
Simpler to leave the states as they are, and combine the 5 largest cities in each state, into a state of their own.
I’d suggest Crapistan, Failureville, or Shifftholechusetts.
I want this to happen so other states will do it.
It will take armed men at checkpoints and on patrol.

Yeah, it would turn into a free for all that would spiral into complete tyranny.
E.g., PA would split into 3 states, 2 left, 1 right. VA splits into 3 states, 2 leftist, 1 right. CA splits into 20 states, 19 peoples’ republics, 1 hold out awaiting a mass flood from the other peoples’ republic..
See the pattern??? It will not work out the way conservatives think it will. Although an exception could be made for VA-WV due to the history of the state(s).

According to the book, The Sovereign Individual by Rees-Mogg and Davidson, that may very well happen. They predicted the nation states would disintegrate and new (some old) forms of government would be created. One is city-states, which is exactly where the divide is in this country, between the big city voters and the rest of us. It could get interesting.
