President Trump on Friday became the first sitting president to address the annual March for Life rally in Washington, appealing to the anti-abortion movement with a call to protect the sanctity of life while accusing Democrats of becoming more "radical" on the issue.
Trump, who for years was pro-choice, has since embraced a pro-life position and made clear on Friday that he plans to continue that agenda as he seeks reelection. Underscoring Trump's stance, his administration hours earlier moved to challenge California over a rule that mandates insurance plans cover elective abortion.
"It is my profound honor to be the first president in history to attend the March for Life," Trump told the crowd in Washington. "Unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House. ... Every life brings love into this world. Every child brings joy to a family. Every person is worth protecting."
The president also panned Democrats' stances on abortion as "extreme" and went out of his way to thank the "tens of thousands of high school and college students who took long bus rides to be here in our nation's capital."
"When it comes to abortion, Democrats … have embraced the most radical and extreme positions taken and seen in this country for years and decades and you could even say for centuries," Trump said, accusing many of supporting "taxpayer-funded abortion all the way up until the moment of birth."
While many Democrats have embraced more permissive stances on abortion – with the word "rare" seemingly disappearing from the "safe, legal and rare" slogan coined by former President Bill Clinton – there are still pro-life Democrats. Last year, for example, Louisiana's Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards signed a bill that would prohibit women from having an abortion once a baby's heartbeat is detected,

I went to college in Manhattan and my mind never came close to being changed as to what I believed or believed in.
And Pace University was Very liberal, even in 1990.
That’s why it’s hard to understand how these kids get their minds changed so easily.
But then I was drunk half the time so maybe I missed it :)

I am very grateful for his unequivocal support of life. When I think back on George W. Bush and his father, I am so disgusted with their weakness on this. For years, I did not become a Republican because the ones I saw, particularly in my home state of CA, were not really interested in changing the status quo, or living by their convictions. Thank you President Trump for telling it like it is, in public, regardless of whether it is easy or diplomatic.
Awesome that he can make Davos earlier in the week and this speech today all while the Schiff-Schumer Sham Show is dominating enemedia coverage.
So proud of our President. And he pointed out all the young supporters too. Thank God so many are seeing the sanctity of Life. And growing all the time.
My college experience actually made it easier to see through the junk that was being pushed by the socialists. My bs meter got really sharp.
I applaud this.
There is a caution though: we must press on.
In Scripture we are told of a time when Israel, with the enemy right at the door, repented and proclaimed release to Jews who had been kept in captivity in defiance of the Law; but, when they thought they found relief the people turned and again enslaved their bretheren.
Therefore the Lord called back the enemy.
There is a danger in taking back repentance and we Americans live with those in our midst both eager and tireless to advance abortion on demand, to take back any repentance we might display by any roll back in baby killing.
We must not let them take back what we gain, for they would call back any doom we might have avoided by making an end of abortion.
We must press on and never relent.

You see what CNN is doing? NOT using our taxes to fund Planned Parenthood is somehow EQUATED to attacking women’s health care rights, as if these women can’t get their healthcare at all without the abortion loving Planned Parenthood. Only unthinking idiots would believe this stupid article.

Its absurd Trump had to be the first.. Right to Life is a standard GOP platform. Its of course a peaceful and solemn event. Culturally its always a huge march.
It should be obvious!
Why would the Bush’s not speak at this event???

There is tremendous mental and spiritual freedom in NOT CARING what people say about you. To Trump, what the MSM says don’t amount to a hill of beans.

The two Bushes ( father and son ) wanted to straddle the middle, saying that they are pro-life, yet fearing that they will be perceived as anti-woman ( as if there are no women who are pro-life ). In other words, the Bushes feared negative press. Trump could care less. Heck, he calls them fake news.
Well that’s a valuable thing to gain :) There’s a lot of BS thrown around in the world.
Also, my parents didn’t try to be “modern”.
They were good old fashioned conservatives with no apologies or need to fit the “modern” times.
Pop came over from Italy very young and was Very Patriotic but wanted noting to do with the social changes that were taking place in the 60s and 70s

i think the Bush women had their opinions. That could have been an influence.
