Donald Trump published the most consequential tweet of his presidency on March 4, 2017. “How low has President Obama gone to tapp [sic] my phones during the very sacred election process,” the chief executive pondered. “This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!”
The response from Trump’s opposition was outrage. The Washington Post fact checker gave it four Pinocchios. The director of the FBI, James Comey, rebuked Trump and said such a thing had never happened. James Clapper, Obama’s director of national intelligence, assured NBC’s Meet the Press that no warrants had been issued in 2016 to surveil members of the Trump campaign.
In a narrow sense, the pushback against Trump’s tweet was correct; Trump himself was never personally the target of an FBI wiretap. In any case, the president doesn’t order such a thing; the FBI applies for a warrant to eavesdrop on Americans from a secret court. No such warrant was issued to bug the president’s offices.
But the furious denials were misleading. To paraphrase a cliché from 2016, Trump’s tweet should have been taken seriously, not literally. Obama did not tap Trump’s phones. But his FBI did spy on Trump’s campaign. That fact is no longer in dispute. The question is whether the FBI was justified in treating the Trump campaign itself as a suspect in this crime against the 2016 election.

House Democraps are notorious for employing the shady Paki clan for IT work. Most of the clan absconded but the mastermind Imran Awan was tried, convicted, and got a slap on the wrist.
An even bigger mystery than how the Pakis got here and got paid huge govt salaries is how the shady Pakis got visas to abscond.
Did “someone” with a lot of political pull facilitate the visas to help them abscond? Some reports say the Pakis traveled on WH visas.
BTW, Did Schiff stop at grabbing phone records of members of Congress, journalists, the courts?? We demand to know
whether Schiff used govt surveillance methods or tax-paid technology to monitor the activity of individuals.....
this is a huge mess Liz. the Paki’s were spying on everyone in DC that WASN’T part of the problem . They were on the lookout for people potentially interfering and that weren’t in on the DC scam...the foreign aid laundromat..the recycling of monies sent overseas into local banks and bank accounts of the people-politicians AND bureaucrats here in DC keeping it all going.
“....No such warrant was issued to bug the president’s offices.”. Hmmmm. Interesting. Then they bugged Trump Tower WITHOUT a warrant. Why else did Admiral Rodgers warn Pres. Trump that Trump Tower WAS indeed bugged, and Trump moved the entire Transition Team to his golf club in Bedminster, NJ. The whole top layers of the Kenyan Admin. are as guilty as the Rosenbergs.
They may not have needed a warrant to monitor Trump. Based on something I read in one of Sharyl Attkisson's articles, such warrants as the one on Carter Page may have authorized them to monitor communications "two steps removed." That is, they could monitor the communications of anyone talking to Page, and then of anyone talking to those sources. Such a reach, if I understand it correctly, could involve monitoring hundreds of sources, including Trump and everyone in his campaign.
Obama administration officials could deny tapping Trump's phones, while at the same time they could be intercepting everything he was saying.
They get a warrant for someone near you and that allows them to listen in on all his contacts - indirect warrant-less but “legal” bugging.
The penalty for being found guilty of using false information to get a warrant or approval for surveillance by a court should be life without chance for parole, or death (choice of the convicted). No ifs, ands, or buts. If that was the consequence, the problem would be solved.
The whole top layers of the Kenyan Admin. are as guilty as the Rosenbergs.
