House impeachment managers target top Trump defense attorney Cipollone, claim he is 'material witness'
Fox News ^ | January 21, 2020 | Brooke Singman

House Democrats prosecuting the Trump impeachment case took aim Tuesday at White House Counsel Pat Cipollone, claiming in a stunning letter that the lead member of the president's defense team is actually a “material witness” to the charges in both articles and demanding that he disclose all “first-hand facts and information” before proceedings begin.

The impeachment "managers" said they need that information in order to weigh potential “ethical” issues or conflicts of interest concerning his defense of the president.

Just hours before Senate trial proceedings were set to resume, the impeachment managers claimed that during the House inquiry they gathered “evidence” that indicates he is a “fact witness to numerous critical events related to the president’s scheme, and remains deeply involved in actions implementing the president’s directive to obstruct the House’s impeachment inquiry.”

~snip~

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, though, blasted the House managers' letter and claimed their requests were unfair -- and even floated disqualifying Schiff, who is the lead impeachment manager, instead.

"Democrats’ opening salvo in impeachment: they demand Trump get rid of his lawyer, Pat Cipollone. Absurd request," Cruz said in a statement to Fox News. "Unlike the House, the Senate will have a FAIR trial. That means we won’t deny the President his lawyer ON THE DAY the trial starts."

He continued: "Under the standard put forth by the House Democrats today – that any potential fact witness cannot serve as counsel in the impeachment hearing – there is an obvious person who should be disqualified: Adam Schiff. Schiff, it has been alleged, spoke directly with the so-called ‘whistle-blower’ and may even have helped him draft the complaint that launched this entire impeachment. ... So, maybe we should disqualify Schiff as a lawyer, and schedule him instead as a witness to explain his role in creating the...

NO more witnesses. The information gathering is what the House was supposed to have done before submitting impeachment to the Senate. The Senate simply looks at what the house presented. The Senate is not responsible to conduct yet another investigation.

I hate these people. It makes me so mad, to listen to them outright lie. I don’t know how they live with themselves. To have no concern for their eternal sole, it just boggles my mind.

Just Pelosi? I’d add Schiff, Schumer, Waters, Nadler, Brenner, Comey, Rice, Clinton’s, Lee, etc. One big platform and pull the lever all at once. I keep praying for President Trump every night. His faith must be strong as I dont trust any of them uo there.

If they allow any witnesses, they should start by cross-examining those who have gone before this. And then they should strike each piece of testimony as hearsay or opinion. When there are no statements left, dismiss the articles for lack of evidence (or lack of crime).

Odd, I don’t recall the Left crying when Clinton & Cheryl Mills were both ‘material witnesses’ & attorney\client *WHILE* being “interviewed” by the FBI....@ the same time.
