Paywall prevents me from seeing the whole story.
At first, I thought I’d be reading about a bad daughter who was caught trying to steal her dad’s life savings. I don’t think that’s the circumstance here. She could have ended up like actress Janet Leigh did in movie Psycho. Poetic justice.

I would never try taking that much cash on an airline. I don’t even take my Nebulizer machine for my asthma. Some TSA agent might mistake it for a bomb. I just take inhalers.

That’s a whole lotta cash to be traveling with. All it does is raise questions that may slow you down. As other posters said, the best thing would be to deposit it in the nearest bank. Or a couple of money orders.
Anything beats carrying that much cold cash in a tupperware bowl. That alone looks suspicious.

I didn’t get a pay wall. Annoying pop ups, yes.

Not everyone is aware of what might appear “suspicious” to an observer. Many people have no clue about how best to transfer cash assets.

And many old people don’t trust giving banks and other financial institutions their cash. My father-in-law was one of them. Hated banks. Didn’t trust them. He was not going to give anyone his cash, hid it in his home in various locations. We tried to educate him, spoke about options but when it came down to it, growing up poor in Mississippi in the 30’s shaped his whole outlook about banks. He paid for his home with cash. Had no credit cards.

And the daughter carrying the cash, she looked it up and was assured she could travel with cash. What did she know? Looked good to her. Thing is, some TSA brain-dead notified DEA (I think) and DEA seized the cash because this is obviously drug money.

Tupperware? To her, that was a “safe” way to travel with cash.

Being old and with cash, that is a risky thing.
