You know what would really be funny, impossible but funny:-)
If President Trump were convicted (the impossible part:-)by the Senate in an impeachment trial and removed from office, could he still run for president in 2020? The possibility is remote, but the candidacy of a former president Trump could happen unless the Senate takes steps to prevent it.

Yes he can. Being barred from future Federal Office is a separate step and separate vote after a vote for removal based upon an Impeachment.

Alcee Hastings (D-FL) is a member of the House of Representatives, elected after having been Impeached and Removed from a Federal Judgeship.

Pence becomes President, names Trump as VP and then resigns.

In that case, Can Trump run for office for 8 more years?
