Climate Experts Suggest Trump Was Right When He Blamed California’s Wildfires On Land Management

Climate experts are apparently backing President Donald Trump’s repeated arguments that California’s wildfires were a result of poor land management rather than climate change, E&E reported Thursday.

Roughly 75% of damage stemming from California’s wildfires was a result of “the way we manage lands and develop our landscape,” Scott Stephens, a professor of fire science at the University of California, Berkeley, said Wednesday at a conference in Washington.

Wildfires used to burn through 4.5 million acres a year in the 18th century, when indigenous communities populated California’s countryside, Stephens noted. “Fire was almost as important as rain to ecosystems,” he added.

And somewhat to blame in the Aussie fires, too, although much more of it is the doing of fire-jihadists. But in spite of the wailing of the green mafia and their media shills, these aren’t even close to the worst fires on record.

Speaking of the Aussie fires, here’s the most Australian man I’ve seen in a while speaking out about the causes:

Language warning. Short vid, highly enjoyable.

The forests are dying from mismanagement. Would you take a perfectly managed farm and let it go for 40 years?

Keep in mind forest management means cleaning up the dead fallen trees.

It does not mean “let it burn.”

Big difference.

A forest ranger here in So Cal told my husband and me recently that the fires were essentially caused by The Sierra Club. All their moaning about trees and loggers and save the redwoods CAUSED the poor forest management that, in turn, caused the fires.

Trump by no means is always right, but in his favor is that he is RIGHT more often than wrong. All I can say is that I wish him a successful presidency and remain healthy and well and give those crooked bastards on the left a run for their money.

Grazing permits meant cattle grazed the grasses and low hanging limbs, loggers thinned the trees. The results we smaller fires that didn’t jump into the canopies and large swaths where the fuel for the fires was nonexistent

Burning isn’t always bad. Prescribed burns are an important part of modern forest management. They are one way to reduce the fuel load, without harming mature trees. There haven’t been enough prescribed burns in recent years, due to opposition by environmentalists and NIMBYs. We should “let it [prescribed burns] burn”.

Where there’s been too much fire suppression in the past, and fuel has been allowed to build up; the inevitable fires are devastating. Among other things, mature trees are killed. We want to avoid getting into a situation where we have no choice but to “let it burn” like that.

Keep in mind forest management means cleaning up the dead fallen trees.
It does not mean “let it burn.”

The reason that California has large, out-of-control fires is lack of management, which can include prescribed burning. There are various forms of forest management. Some terrain is too steep to harvest timber. Also burning is the cheapest management option.

But most of all, low intensity fire is beneficial: https://www.fs.fed.us/rm/pubs_other/rmrs_2010_keane_r003.pdf

My son is over there near Sydney. He told me last week the indigenous Aboriginal people (and everyone else) had been stopped from taking care of the land as they had for ages.
