The top 1% - who earn at least $500,000 annually - are living "dramatically different life experiences" than middle- and low-income Americans,...

I believe this is what's called a "truism".

it's unclear whether there's the political will to address it

What a load. Political will? What does that even mean - "basic income"?

Addressing it means getting an education and a good job. In this economy there's no excuse not to.

"To achieve the American Dream, it helps to be filthy rich"

BS! Living debt free, other than perhaps your house, is the way I am "living the dream". And I am anything but filthy rich.

I would say that this ‘dissatisfaction’ is more a matter of perception than it is reality. We all have it so good that we think the norm is for the other poor slob, not me.

I heard it said once that 80% of people think they’re above any job that pays what 50% of the country earns.

Hard to believe anything by someone named Amy Peachy.

Our house is paid for, our retirement is sufficient, health is good for now, and we do know where our next meal is coming from.

If that & the right to bear arms isn’t living the American Dream, then please, somebody fill me with green-eyed envy.

“Lower- and middle-income respondents were also more likely to say they struggled to pay for housing than wealthier Americans.”

Nothing gets past these geniuses.

Solution: Get off your ass an work for it instead of assuming someone else should pay your way.

Love how the jackass academic/political/media class. Total parasites producing nothing of value, want everyone else to pay for their notions of “fairness” At the same time collecting taxpayer funded paychecks completely out of all proportion to any value they add to society.

How about Academic/Government/Media parasite class, stop leeching off the taxpayers and start working at something of value for once?

I was just talking to the guy who lives next door to my lowest-end rental. It’s not the best neighborhood but it’s decent. He lives in a single room block house on about a quarter acre. He told me proudly that he just paid it off. So, he owns all his stuff, including a truck, outright. He has a maintenance/laborer type job and he is financially independent. He owes nothing to anyone.

Does he own much? No. But he is dammed proud. And, he’s a decent guy, the kind you would want as a neighbor if there was a problem.

Well, it depends on your dream. I gross just a little over $70K and am really quite happy. Not a single child of our grew up to be a bed wetting liberal drain on society. We have five happy and healthy grandchildren.

We live in an area of the country where housing is quite affordable and have no desire to eat at swanky restaurants or rub elbows with the rich and famous.

Most of our neighbors are genuinely nice and Hillary barely cleared 30% in the last election in our township and couldn't even clear 33% countywide.

Some might call our area blue collar or even redneck, but what's not to like about that?

It’s called the IRS.

Translation: Can enough people be induced to vote for Democrats so they can raid the treasury on their behalf. Hand us the power and we'll sprinkle crumbs to the pleebs.
