We leave and Iran annexes Iraq and makes it a province of Iran. Not good....
______
What a pickle Bush got us into. Didn’t anyone take into consideration that the Shia are the majority population in Iraq?!
And THAT, is exactly how Trump gets our troops out of Iraq.
I also agree. As a Canadian I want all our boys in Iraq and Afghanistan to come home. No more sitting targets.
“Destruction of equipment and supplies wont take as long.”
Can’t equipment and supplies be flown back to the U.S. for use here?
Meanwhile Kurdish media Rudaw reported on Jan 6 that:
Iraqs Prime Minister Adil Abdul al-Mahdi receives Chinas ambassador to Iraq,
Zhang Tao conveyed Beijings readiness to provide military assistance.

Speaking of China, theres a rumor that among those killed in the US airstrikes were people connected to the Chinese military. It shouldnt come as a surprise given China is a major weapons supplier for Iran, had just participated in a joint military drill, and Soleimani and the Iraqi militia leaders were believed to be planning major terrorist attacks in the area. Of course theres no confirmation except maybe some possible clues:
- Pompeo called the Chinese almost immediately after the airstrikes, even before he called the UK. This is odd considering that China is not an ally. See Pompeos two tweets about his calls in the article:
https://bongino.com/pompeo-says-soleimani-killed-due-to-imminent-threats-trumps-decision-saved-american-lives/
- Statements made by the Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi after the US airstrikes were pretty tame calling for dialogue compared with his prior rhetoric against US involvement in the Middle East.
It’s “tells” in the headline and “asks” in the body.
At least two stories today following this pattern.
I go to Twitter. Right after the airstrike some good people there said “for the next few weeks ignore everything the political pundits are saying and look at these military experts”.
... so I did. The immidiate prediction was - Iraq political types are certain to make noise for internal consumption, but they are far less certain to follow this noise with real action.
Noise is what I am seeing here.
I hope then that the gentleman took the appliances with him and replaced them with old cheap used ones matching the old ones that were there.
No, it was extensive work, like replacing counters, cupboards and flooring. I do not know what was done to the appliances.
You get my point though. I am not sure we can ask Iraq to reimburse our invasion and everything that came after, any more than someone who invades my property and puts in a building without permission has the authority to do anything but leave when asked.

Not good. Yet the Democrats have blinders on to all the dangers posed by China.
Yep.
