Pentagon: Iran Shot Down a Commercial Airliner Carrying Hundreds of Civilians

Pentagon officials believe the Iranian regime shot down Ukrainian Airlines Flight PS 752 with a Russian anti-aircraft missile Tuesday night. All 176 innocent civilians and the crew were killed. The victims were from Canada, the UK, Sweden, Germany, Ukraine, Afghanistan and Iran. There were no Americans onboard.

"Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, a Boeing 737–800 en route from Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airpot to Kyiv's Boryspil International Airport, stopped transmitting data Tuesday just minutes after takeoff and not long after Iran launched missiles at military bases housing U.S. and allied forces in neighboring Iraq. The aircraft is believed to have been struck by a Russia-built Tor-M1 surface-to-air missile system, known to NATO as Gauntlet, the three officials, who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter," Newsweek reports

BREAKING: U.S. officials have shared intelligence with Canada to back up the view that Ukrainian International Airlines Flight 152 was brought down by an Iranian missile, sources tell CBC News.— CBC News Alerts (@CBCAlerts) January 9, 2020

The plane, which was flying away from Tehran, was shot down hours after Iran launched more than a dozen missiles from inside the country toward Al Asad airbase in Iraq. This was done in retaliation for the killing of Iranian terrorist leader Qassem Soleimani. Nobody was harmed and there were no casualties from the attack.

Senior US official tells me that it was a Russian SA15 missile that brought down the Ukrainian civilian airliner. "An absolute tragedy," the official told Fox News. "They just screwed up and it is tragic."— Jennifer Griffin (@JenGriffinFNC) January 9, 2020

For now officials are saying the shoot down was a mistake, but it was just a few days ago Iranian President Hassan Rouhani threatened commercial aircraft travel. He did so by reminding President Trump of an accidental plane shoot down by the U.S. in 1988. Since then aircraft and radar technology has vastly improved to avoid attacks on commercial flights. Iran is refusing to turn over the black box to Boeing for evaluation.

Who in their right mind would be spending time in Tehran. It would seem that this is a good time to not be in Tehran and secondarily to not be flying in a commercial aircraft in the midst of the insane missile-launching by these nitwit mullahs.

Believe it when I see proof. Until then, it is just another attempt to start a war with Iran

How does “Canadian intel” learn about the pengine? you ask. Going by what I understand, I hypothesize; Engine manufacturer receives data of one, then multiple (catastrophic) engine failures. Manufacturer informs Ukraine Airlines (who own the installed engines) of the incident. Airline receives confirmation from Iran that their 737 crashed. Airline follows protocol and begins informing embassies/consulates of deceased nationals aboard their flight. Informed states follow their protocols and ultimately reach out to engine manufacturers.

Just my guess.

I’m guessing that the manufacturer first contacted the engine owners (Ukraine Airlines), airline receives confirmation of a crash, and airline contacts states that their nationals died aboard a flight. Ukraine Airlines might share data from manufacturer with states at that time or direct them to the manufacturer for details.

> Ironically, the one piece of information they weren’t sending back was their location(!)

Engines are expected to remain under the wing, normally they don’t move around.

I get that. I wonder if they start sending back GPS coordinates now, whether the aircraft’s own transponder is switched on or off.

"It was reported Canadian intel had information an engine overheated."

Aircraft engines have a tendency to overheat when struck with a heat-seeking surface-to-air missile.

If only commercial airliners had FLARE DISPENSERS! Not a bad idea, eh?

That is a good idea! Do they know when a missile is tracking them?

We shoot down a plane full of civilians on July 3. On July 4 we shoot up fireworks for fun.

Tasteless, or heartless in my mind.

You’re dead, we killed you, too bad, so sad, but we got a party scheduled.

Not a one of the communist groups that protested against America is calling for peace and marching to condemn Iran’s act of murder.

Guaranteed, we knew nearly every detail of the missile launch immediately.

The problem is once launching, there would be no stopping the SA-15 TOR (if this was the system identified), from taking down a large commercial aircraft, in this case still accelerating just past 310mph and having climbed to about 10,000ft.

One also has to ask, why in the world was TOR (Gauntlet) active nearly adjacent to a commercial airport, and why would an air air defense command not be aware of commercial flights from a commercial airport. Or conversely, why was a commercial plane allowed to take off from a commercial airport, with an adjacent and hot TOR targeting system?

While this may be an accident, and will be called an accident, it also may not have been an accident.

We shot down an Iranian plane in 1988.

It probably would not have happened if Trump had not ordered the killing, and then Iran hit our bases. It is obvious it is related to the last few days activity.

Guessing it was “defending” the airport... Other conspiracy theory is Iran intentionally shot it down in order to blame the US, but we never took the bait and countered.
