Yes, Obama Helped Fund the Iranian Regime
National Review ^ | David Harsanyi

Posted on 01/09/2020 9:20:00 AM PST by bitt

In his address to the nation this morning, Donald Trump asserted that the ballistic missiles that targeted the al-Assad and Erbil bases in Iraq yesterday were paid for using “funds made available by the last administration.” Few things irritate media fact checkers more than Trump’s accusation that Obama helped fund the Iranian regime and its terror apparatus. Probably because it’s completely true.

Now, we don’t really know that Obama’s ransom payments to Iran in 2016 subsidized those specific ballistic missiles, but we do know that money is fungible — especially when you have access to small denominations of European cash — and that the military, IRGC, and Hezbollah were the major beneficiaries of the replenished coffers of the Iranian state. Distinctions over the details of the exact allocation of funds would be completely irrelevant in any conversation not involving Donald Trump. Yet Andrea Mitchell and CNN, and all the usual suspects, immediately rallied to Obama’s defense to also explain that actually Trump is talking about money we owed Iran.

We never “owed” the Islamic Republic any money. This is a myth. In 2016, the United States was in the middle of an unresolved dispute in front of the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal at The Hague over cash advanced by the Shah for military equipment we refused to deliver after the 1979 revolution. You might recall, this is when Iran began prosecuting its war against the United States, taking hostages, and killing service members.

They’re losing their minds with this truth.
DNC Media would never, ever admit to this obvious fact.

President Trump will likely say it several times in Toledo tonight.

there’s no reasonable debate on this question. money is fungible; even if $0 of the ransom was spent directly on building the missiles that were fired at us, it paid for other things that thereby freed up the dollars that were spent building the missiles that were fired at us.

It's like when the UN puts countries like Libya and Iran on the "Human Rights Council," or whatever nonsense name it goes by.

Liberals always end up advancing what is worse.

Obama gave the Iranian terrorists the dough they needed to buy air to air missiles to shoot down Ukraine bound airliners.

$150 Billion tax dollars in Cash for Iran in Nuclear Deal
IWB ^ | IWB / FR Posted on 1/7/2020 by davikkm
RE: Obama’s Secretary of State John Kerry.

In 2009, Kerry’s younger daughter from his first marriage, Dr. Vanessa Bradford Kerry, married Iranian-American physician, Dr. Brian (Behrooz) Vala Nahid. The Best Man at their wedding, Mahdi Zarif, was the son of Iran’s Foreign Minister, Javad Zarif, who acted as Iran’s chief negotiator in official nuclear talks with the US. In other words, Javad Zarif was John Kerry’s counterpart in official Iran nuclear deal negotiations, the same negotiations that eventually ended up with Iran being given 150 Billion in cash with literally no SIGNED agreement and, thus, no strings attached. Ah, but it gets better… (Excerpt) Read more at investmentwatchblog.com ...

A militarily expansive Iran evolved thru Obama’s carefully executed financial largesse (read US tax dollars).
Obama's entire basis for giving Iran $1.3 billion tax dollars in cash on palettes in the middle of the night
was based on Obama's engineering a secret quid pro quo....that benefitted him and him alone.

Moreover, Obama's returning to Iran of the $150 billion in so-called "confiscated assets" was most assuredly
not an expression of Obama's generosity..........far from it. This was a quid pro quo to end all quid pro quos.

How do we know? B/c Obama WILL NOT DIVULGE donors to his Clintonesque Foundation
......the foundation that's building his "final resting place" in Chicago.

Obama has another foundation dedicated to his Nigerian dad run by his brother........yes, it's as crooked as you think.

Where did Obama get billions of tax dollars he gave to Iran?

Obama's $1.3B giveaway to Iran was paid in cash Jan 22 and Feb 5 from a little-known fund administered by the US Treasury.
The so-called Judgment Fund is made up of tax dollars Congress has permanently approved in the event it's needed....(cue laugh machine here)

SOURCE: fiscaltreasury.gov. -----The Judgment Fund was established to pay court judgments and Justice Department compromise settlements of actual or imminent lawsuits against the government. It is administered by the Judgment Fund Section, which is a part of the United States Department of the Treasury, Bureau of the Fiscal Service. The Judgment Fund Internet Claims System (JFICS) is the application used to process all Judgment Fund claims.

The Judgment Fund is a permanent, indefinite appropriation available to pay judicially and administratively ordered monetary awards against the United States. The Judgment Fund is also available to pay amounts owed under compromise agreements negotiated by the U.S. Department of Justice in settlement of claims arising under actual or imminent litigation, if a judgment on the merits would be payable from the Judgment Fund. The statutory authority for the Judgment Fund is 31 U.S.C. 1304.

If funds for paying an award are otherwise provided for in the appropriations of the defendant agency, the Judgment Fund may not pay an award. A federal agency may request that payment of an award be made on its behalf from the Judgment Fund only in those instances where funds are not legally available to pay the award from the agency's own appropriations.

Amounts paid vary significantly from year-to-year. Federal agencies are not required to reimburse the Judgment Fund except when cases are filed under the Contract Disputes Act (CDA) or the No FEAR Act (Notification and Federal Employee Antidiscrimination and Retaliation Act).

Contact judgment.fund@fiscal.treasury.gov or 202-874-6664.

Thanks. Now that information, and from your post just above it, would have made the NR piece about a hundred times more consequential.

The business of where the dough came from has been tossed around for years, and all of a sudden, why, it was theirs to begin with - nothing to see here. OMG, so maddening.

DUH
Iran has been on the State Dept’s State Sponsors of Terrorism list since 1984.
An 8 year old could figure out where at least SOME of that money would go.
Obama & his minions didn’t care.
