And I appreciate you going. I appreciate Philip Van Cleave and VCDL tremendously, but I think time and energy can be better used elsewhere, particularly on the home front.
Think about it, thousands of people in Richmond and just one backfire, firecracker, or accidental discharge and all hell could break loose. This would be a PR disaster that the media would love to show nonstop until November, 2020.
The General Assembly office building would be shut down. No one would be allowed in for hours defeating the purpose of going to Richmond to lobby your legislators and the demoKKKrats score a big win.
That would not help to win the hearts and minds of the "2nd Amendment middle of the roaders" in Virginia.

In Florida, wackos are trying to get, not a simple bill that can be changed or removed by future legislations, or held unconstitutional, but a freaking CONTSITUTIONAL AMENDMENT on the next major election, to define assault weapons as any semi-automatic gun capable of accepting a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds. THAT IS EVERY SINGLE SEMI-AUTOMATIC IN THE WORLD, handgun or rifle or shotgun of ALL CALIBERS and makes, if it takes a removable magazine. And CONSTITUIONAL AMENDMENTS are very hard to remove. For heaven’s sake, we’re still guaranteeing farm pigs have adequate room to move around in their cages, as a CONSTITUIONAL AMENDMENT!!!!
I can’t sit around and wait for SCOTUS to strike down a Florida state Constitutional Amendment, if it even can. Because before then, I’ll have to turn in/register/get rid of my weapons (if, er, uhm, I owned any like that, of course) or risk being arrested, jailed, prosecuted, branded a felon, and stripped of my job, right to hold a professional license (lawyer, doctor, etc.), bank account, sanity, and life in general. Or I’ll have to move out of Florida, etc. And the VA people are already about there, and other Northern states already have other unreasonable and unconstituional restrictions, and there hasn’t been any SCOTUS rescue there, has there? They just find new ways to restrict, or they defy the SCOTUS. I mean, a MO town just decided to interpret all city parks as “childcare centers” just so they could ban concealed weapons from them! And many FLORIDA local governments are openly defying FL law prohibiting local governments from making gun laws more restrictive than state law (and fining, jailing, and removing from office the government officials who try that), and the State Agricultural Commissioner (who handles Concealed Weapons Permits) is backing governments who want to have that Florida law declared unconstituional, so that the local governments can declare large areas gun-free, deny face-to-face transactions for Florida citizens at gun shows or on local government property without an FFL dealer background check, etc.
NO, resistance has to happen, and it has to happen now. Shooting steel targets en masse and posting that on line is just preaching to the choir. More visible and more direct in your face action is needed. I wish the VA boys well.

You have to be able to "publicly" hold their feet to the fire to get them to see the light. When they feel the heat, they will see the light.
That is the way to win the tactical battle, first winning the psychological battle.
The problem is, the crazies will show up anyway, and the media will call them the anti-gun crowd whether anybody else shows up or not.
It seems the right thing to do is for good citizens to stand and be counted, and to do what they can to silence the crazy people who try to hijack the event.
