Well, apart from the mistake of saying 2/3 of states were needed to ratify the amendment (more common than you would think), Inez nails it. Men and women are equal under law, but not precisely the same.
The proponents, no doubt, want a sort of egalitarianism (sameness) for women, not equality, which they already have.
As for the deadline, since that deadline was originally approved by Congress on a 2/3 vote in each house when they approved the amendment, shouldn’t undoing that deadline take a 2/3 vote, even though the one extension to 1982 was probably approved by simple majorities?
