Anton "Tony" Wallace's daughter says she ran to her injured father
The daughter of one of two victims shot and killed Sunday morning at West Freeway Church of Christ is speaking out.
You dont think its going to hit home and the fact that it hit our home and someone that supports us and loves us and is our dad [is gone], thats what hurts the most, Tiffany Wallace said.
Wallace not only lost her father Anton Tony Wallace Sunday morning, but the 64-year-old was taken feet from her and in their house of worship.
It just happened so fast, she said.
Wallace was a husband, father, grandfather and a registered nurse.
He was also a deacon and lifelong member of West Freeway Church of Christ.
Wallace said her dad had just given out communion in the back of the church when she noticed a man shed never seen before approach him.
"The guy just stood up from the pew, turn toward my dad and I guess he shot at the security guard, she said.
Through the shots and chaos that ensued, she realized her dad had been hit.
I ran toward my dad and the last thing I remember is him asking for oxygen and I was just holding him, telling him I loved him and that he was going to make it, Wallace said.
He was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late.
You just wonder why? How can someone so evil, the devil, step into the church and do this, she said.
With few answers, the family can only remember the man who was steadfast in his faith and family.
He was amazing. He was a godly person and even when we talked about going to heaven he always said, 'Im always prepared,'" she said. But you never thought this would happen.
Yet even in her grief, the 32-year-old has found that forgiveness exists.
I forgive him [the gunman] and thats the hardest thing to say, she said.
Wallace has expressed gratitude for the armed church member who also serves as a security guard for the parish for bringing down the gunman.
He is a hero to me, she said. Im just glad everybodys OK. I know my dad is up there with his sister, his parents, in a wonderful place. Not in pain anymore Hes just in peace now. I know hes in good hands.
Wallace also wanted to thank a nurse who was present and ran to help the injured and the entire congregation for their support and prayers.
Thank-you
The church member who shot the killer was a retired FBI agent, who also served as one of the church’s security guards.
My church encourages members to carry. "Then said he to them, But now, he that has a purse, let him take it, and likewise his money: and he that has no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one . . . And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough."
We have several armed members present at each service, more than we saw in the recent shooting, although that church probably had more too. That way we can focus on our real mission without the distraction of worrying about safety. From time to time odd ducks walk in. The ushers will single them out, give them coffee, tea, or a snack, and talk with them to find out what they need. Walk in looking homeless or crazy, and you will be welcomed and fed . . . and checked out carefully. Our hospitality plan includes security, and our security plan includes hospitality.
I don't wonder why. I know why. Liberalism is synonymous with sin, and sin has pervaded America. Cf Meninger's "What Ever Became of Sin?"
Just saw it again at 8:36 AM.
Here’s another good link on CFP:
The victims’ names have been made public (not by authorities) but nearly 24 hours later the killer’s identity is still being withheld by police. WHY? He’s dead. There is no criminal case to make. File is closed.
I’ll bet the press has the name and is doing their own spin and social media photo captures waiting for the embargo to be lifted.
They always do.
Listen to your instincts. Listen to your gut feelings and do something right then. I have been wrong more times by not listening to my instincts than my instincts have ever been wrong.
There’s a great book called “The Gift of Fear”. It basically describes how people have been “civilized” and “PC’d” out of listening to their inherent survival instincts.
This woman didn’t act on her instincts. This is why people get on the elevator with the sketchy minority and end up raped or worse. They have been trained by society to ignore their instincts in the name of political correctness.
People need to unlearn this behavior. Cross the street when sketchy people approach you. Go back into the mall when there’s something not right in the parking lot. Etc, etc...
Smart.
That assumes he acted alone. What if he had co-conspirators?
I am willing to give the local authorities a little time to check out that angle.
Where are all the articles where the church folk are demanding more gun laws and making it illegal to carry in church?? The MSM can’t even make up one? /s
Robert Francis O’Rourke was saying more gun laws are needed, or fewer guns.
He didn’t even wait an hour after the shooting to make that call.
Since the shooter was dead in 6 seconds, how would anything Butthead O’Dorke is demanding have changed this?
Shotguns are going to be banned too now?
Lock up the crazies, that’s where the action needs to happen. He had a criminal record, authorities aren’t releasing details yet.
FYI, here is the FULL video, with SOUND:
