KYIV—Ukraine arrested one of the world’s most dangerous international terrorists last month in a special operation conducted by local, Georgian and American special services. Al-Bara Shishani, the former commander of the so-called Islamic State and deputy head of its intelligence operations, was detained on the outskirts of Kyiv. Shishani had been presumed dead for more than a year, but was hiding here and plotting international terrorist attacks, according to Ukrainian authorities.
In fact, this country torn by a Russian-backed separatist war has become a kind of Twilight Zone for terrorists of many stripes who have found ways to cross its borders and take advantage of a deeply divided society where law and order have been undermined by official corruption and public confusion.
The terrorist’s real name is Cezar Tokhosashvili, from the Pankisi Gorge region of the Republic of Georgia. The largely impoverished population of those rough mountains includes many Muslims of Chechen extraction who have embraced radical Salafi teachings and, in several cases, became enthusiastic recruits for violent jihadist organizations.

The guy is a former Georgian military himself and trained in Pankisi by USMC in earlier 2000s.
A bunch of former Georgian military were brought to Ukraine by the Obama’s Ambassador along with a former Georgian President Saakashvili whom they forced upon the Ukrainian government and the Ukrainians had to put Saakashvili as one of the regional governors.
It is rumored that the Georgian military is behind the ‘ghost snipers’ who shot and killed a hundred protestors.
Elected president was falsely accused in that killing and it was used as a justification for a coup against him and a regime change.
I think ISIS connection makes it even more creepy now.
To be honest about this guy...just in 2014, he was reported ‘dead’ on five occasions, and none of the occasions were true.
In 2015, there were three reports of him dead. None were true. TASS even reported him captured by US special forces toward the end of the year....that was also not true.
In 2016, there are a minimum of three reports of him dead. None of them were true. Toward the end of 2016, President Obama reported him dead. That was not true.
In 2018, the Turks did say that they had captured his wife and was charging her up with crimes.
The odds of the Ukrainians actually having the guy? If it were him, he’d have a ton of intelligence to be gained, and the US ought to be working up a deal to get their hands on the guy.

What the US should do is tear down the system that sends USMC trainers to countries full of terrorist scum who once trained are chomping at the bit to murder Christians and their "fellow" Muzlames that are members of a different sect.
As it works now, the last thing anyone in the system wants is the US getting "their hands on the guy". They'd prefer to have him back in the field where they want him killing people and creating anarchy. Failing that, they want him dead.

There are more than two sides to Ukrainian and Georgian politics. Putin's Russia, Soros' EU, Chechen terrorists from the Pankasi Gorge, internal coruptocrats, US coruptocrats, and people who are for real independence in Ukraine and Georgia to name six.

That only sounds legit if you believe everything the media told on the subject at the time. The same media saying Trump is a Putin’s puppet.
If Yanukovich wanted to crush the revolt he could simply run tanks over the square.
There are transcripts of the coup leaders talking to the US Embassy officials and asking for US invervention before the shooting. US diplomats said ‘bigger events’ needed and there is nothing to talk about because ‘there is not even a hundred dead so far’.
Surprisingly, they had a hundred shot the very next day and that piece of work McCain running around demanding to hand Yanukovich.
There were reports on Euro media several months ago that a Chechen-Georgian man turned himself in Minsk claiming he was involved in a shooting and now organizers are hunting him and threatening his family.
CNN coincidentally was there at the moment of shooting and filmed armed soldiers in the streets who tried to storm the hotel and immediately blamed them for the shooting.
It is now proven beyond doubt that the shots could not be fired by these soldiers but the fire was coming from the hotel itself. The same hotel CNN was filming the killing from.
And there was a string of killings of Chechen activists in Ukraine, those who supported the coup immediately after.
You can even find these stories on FR.
Now you see a Chechen ISIS minister was hiding in Ukraine too.
Isn’t it fishy?
As for Saakashvili and USMC they very well might have fought terrorists in Pankisi but for some weird reason ‘anti-terrorists’ they trained there ended up fighting Russian forces in Chechnya. It took a Russian invasion of Georgia in 2008 to finally clean the Chechens and Georgian military from Pankisi and then they reappeared in Syria in managerial roles for ISIS.
And as Saakashvili was chased away from Georgia and Brennan forced him on Ukraine the very same terrorists are now in Ukraine.
And by the way a lot is told about Russian support of break-away Georgian republics in the north.
Nobody says that Turkey de-facto annexed the whole South of Georgia and the process started after Saakashvili became president.
Now they have free travel with Turkey and the Turks own everything in Batumi. Every other person is Turkish, all businesses are Turkish and the Georgians are doing menial jobs for them. It doesn’t even look like a Christian city anymore. There are more mosques than Churches.
That is how great an anti-terrorist this Saakashvili is.

I've been sifting through articles here on FR about Ukraine and Georgia for over two decades. Perhaps you should go back before the time you registered here just two short years ago, and gather additional information.

I'm going to stop right there. Your conclusion is illogical. You ignore the ramifications of such a maneuver. You are pushing Putin propaganda. I'm not going to spend the rest of my Sunday addressing the rest of your misunderstandings of the complicated multifaceted political interests that define Ukraine and Georgia over the last two decades.
I agree about competing interests but that you said that Yanukovich did the shooting makes about as much sense as the idea that Trump is a Putin’s puppet.
