NYT: Officials Discussed Hold on Ukraine Aid After Trump Spoke With Country’s Leader (BARF ALERT)
NYT ^ | 12/21/19 | Edward Wong

Posted on 12/22/2019 4:10:22 AM PST by SilvieWaldorfMD

WASHINGTON — About 90 minutes after President Trump held a controversial telephone call with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine in July, the White House budget office ordered the Pentagon to suspend all military aid that Congress had allocated to Ukraine, according to emails released by the Pentagon late Friday.

A budget official, Michael Duffey, also told the Pentagon to keep quiet about the aid freeze because of the “sensitive nature of the request,” according to a message dated July 25.

An earlier email that Mr. Duffey sent to the Pentagon comptroller suggested that Mr. Trump began asking aides about $250 million in military aid set aside for Ukraine after noticing a June 19 article about it in the Washington Examiner.

The emails add to publicly available information about the events that prompted the Democratic-led House to call for Mr. Trump to be removed from office. On Wednesday, Mr. Trump was impeached for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress along a party-line vote after documents and testimony by senior administration officials revealed that he had withheld $391 million in aid to Ukraine at the same time that he asked for investigations from the Ukrainian president that would benefit him politically.

Yes, but Sondland knows that when the President wants something, he doesn’t say it outright. So his denials are proof of his guilt. Of course, if he said, “I want dirt on Joe Biden! Otherwise, they don’t get nothing,” that would be proof of his guilt, too. So no matter what he says, he’s proven he’s guilty just by being himself. That’s why even double-dog-dare hearsay is proof of his guilt, because he’s always guilty, especially when there is no proof.

Excellent, excellent synopsis, and absolutely accurate.

The simple truth is that our government has become inundated with self-promoting, arrogant, and corrupt people who have no business being anywhere near the reigns of government power.

Trump's primary ‘sin’, from their perspective, is simply that he has made it clear that a great number of those in government are feckless ineffectual people driven by ambition and narcissism, though lacking talent.

The Hillary's, Schiff’s, Pelosi’s, Biden’s, Nadler’s, Comey’s, Strzok’s, Romney's, etc. are just not very impressive people, truthfully. That someone from outside their little self-congratulatory echo chamber has come in and shown them for what they are is an absolute existential threat to what they've built their entire lives upon. That is why they hate him.

It's also why those who have built their stature upon their connections and access to the nominally ‘powerful’ in government, as many in the media have, hate him.

“Well, if there were one single other instance of Trump investigating foreign corruption that might have a bit more credibility. But alas, the only instance that seemed to bother him was the one involving the Dem front-runner.”

and how exactly do you know that the Trump administration HASN’T been investigating a dozen other instances of foreign corruption? ... oh, right, because there were no deep state conspiracy whisteleakers leaking to Schiff about them so that the dying lying leftist Democrat fake stream enemedia could issue propaganda about them 24x7x365 ... either that or you’ve got your own resources in the 17 U.S. intelligence agencies that would conduct such investigations who have assured you that no such investigations are happening ...

I see our Democrat Fascist Party bot is still here shameless lying.

Your argument is totally fraudulent You have not a hint of a bit of intellectual, moral, or legal, legitimacy.

FLASHBACK, 2018: Joe Biden Brags At CFR Meeting About Withholding Aid To Ukraine To Force Firing Of Prosecutor

Just because Biden is now a political opponent does not make him immune from investigation for possible wrong doing while VP. The Democrat party has reckless lied to the US People during this whole impeachment scam. The President has both a legal and a moral obligation to have this investigated. Their “Abuse of power” and “Obstruction of Congress” accusations are absurd lies with not a hint of shred of a clue of either legal, or moral, legitimacy.

Lesson learned - de-fund the Pentagon - eliminate it - and have the military composed of the National Guards that get federalized during war. End overseas funding of these neocon war regimes. Trump learned his lesson he knew already - never trust the establishment.

Accepting something of value in exchange is what Biden did here. So if this is a “Crime” then Biden is guilty and Trump has a legal, and moral, obligation to assist the investigation.

Babbler the clown's accusation here has no intellectual, legal or moral merit. Like all Democrat Fascist Party bots he simply keeps throwing stuff at Trump pathetically wishing something would stick

The President is within the duties of his office to make sure foreign aid is not going to a corrupt regime. Show me one just one instance of US foreign aid that did not have some sort of condition attached to it. It is not a blank check.

You can’t accept a thing of value from a foreign power, much less extort it by illegally withholding aid.

what was the thing of value that was accepted?

How is withholding taxpayer dollars a problem?
It’s not stealing from Ukraine, its oversight on a gift.
I expect any president to be careful with how this money is distributed, especially if he believes its being laundered back into congressional or citizens accounts.

You can’t accept a thing of value from a foreign power,

You apparently don’t understand even this much. It has to be worth $5k in currency to be a misdemeanor, and $25k to be a felony. It doesn’t apply to ephemeral things in any way. your interpretation implies getting a ride from the airport, or a hug, would be a crime. Silliness on stilts.

much less extort it by illegally withholding aid.

The aid withholding wasn’t illegal, and wasn’t even questionable unless it went past Sept 30th. Both a treaty we have had with the Ukraine for over two decades, as well as the law funding the aid itself *command* the President to perform diligence against corruption before passing on the aid - but beyond that, until Sept 30 it is completely at his whimsical discretion. After that point, he can still with-hold it, but has to inform Congress.

and it’s described clearly in the July 25 call transcript.

You’re hallucinating. The aid wasn’t even discussed...at all. The closest mention was Zelenskyy mentioning Trump’s administration has been very supportive of the Ukraine’s defense and that they are almost ready to buy more Javelins.

BTW, during the same time period, Trump put similar holds on aid to 5 other countries, and 10 EU programs as part of an effort to put pressure on Europe to pony up aid funds of their own.
