NYT: Officials Discussed Hold on Ukraine Aid After Trump Spoke With Country’s Leader (BARF ALERT)
NYT ^ | 12/21/19 | Edward Wong

Posted on 12/22/2019 4:10:22 AM PST by SilvieWaldorfMD

WASHINGTON — About 90 minutes after President Trump held a controversial telephone call with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine in July, the White House budget office ordered the Pentagon to suspend all military aid that Congress had allocated to Ukraine, according to emails released by the Pentagon late Friday.

A budget official, Michael Duffey, also told the Pentagon to keep quiet about the aid freeze because of the “sensitive nature of the request,” according to a message dated July 25.

An earlier email that Mr. Duffey sent to the Pentagon comptroller suggested that Mr. Trump began asking aides about $250 million in military aid set aside for Ukraine after noticing a June 19 article about it in the Washington Examiner.

The emails add to publicly available information about the events that prompted the Democratic-led House to call for Mr. Trump to be removed from office. On Wednesday, Mr. Trump was impeached for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress along a party-line vote after documents and testimony by senior administration officials revealed that he had withheld $391 million in aid to Ukraine at the same time that he asked for investigations from the Ukrainian president that would benefit him politically.

Well, if there were one single other instance of Trump investigating foreign corruption that might have a bit more credibility. But alas, the only instance that seemed to bother him was the one involving the Dem front-runner.

He asked for an investigation of Uranium One (Sessions failed to do it) and investigations of 2016 foreign influence. Also the Obama admin asked Ukraine for a Manafort investigation in 2016 and that is ok by me. Manafort evaded taxes big time by hiding foreign income, and the easiest way to find out is from the foreign government.

Yet if FDR had bragged about gaining those bases in the Caribbean as an example of his foreign relations prowess during the 1940 campaign, according to you he would have committed a crime by demanding that quid pro quo.

By the way that quiz pro quo violated the Neutrality Act so Jim Noble is quite right in suggesting we dig up FDR and retroactively impeach him for obstruction of Congress.

Has Nancy Pelosi violates a campaign finance statute, since she has solicited something of value that would benefit her campaign from Mitch McConnell in return for sending impeachment over to the House?

Did Obama violate the statute you cited by accepting the Nobel Prize since that benefitted his re-election? I’m just wondering where the dividing line falls? Since everything positive that happens to a politician benefits his or her re-election then soliciting or accepting anything of value would be a crime, if we’re to follow your logic.

Agreed.

In fact the mulligan is a bigger offense.

And we’ve already been promised more impeachments by dems based on Trump’s “future” crimes.

It’s already 3 years. They should put some effort into finding a real candidate instead.

Not that there is one out there :)

A 2015 WSJ report includes a chart of “foreign donors” to the Clinton Foundation showing “Ukraine” as a top donor among a list of large donors including “foreign individuals and their foundations and companies" while Clinton was secretary of state from Jan. 21, 2009 to Feb. 1, 2013.

The Clinton Foundation publicly reports, and its foundation spokesman confirmed, that other foreign entities have given more than the Pinchuk Foundation (which is listed as having given between $10 million and $25 million).

Will Barr look into this? Is there any chance the MSM will ever hold the Clinton's to the same standards they hold Republicans to?

The New York Times, reportedly, has a top team of ten reporters working on a bombshell expose on how MEAN PRESIDENT TRUMP IS TO CHINA.

They are assiduously, but fair-mindedly going to hold it until it’s closer to election.

Do any of us think that the powers that be at the Times have lost their minds in their quest to destroy.

ITEM---The Dallas office of the IRS's investigation into Clinton Foundation public filings found missing disclosures
concerning Clinton Foundation donations from foreign governments
. Other glaring discrepancies should
have triggered payment of substantial fines, penalties, and interest to government treasuries long ago.

Then-NYAG Eric Schneiderman Let Clinton Foundation skip identifying foreign donors
By Bob Fredericks September 6, 2016 | 9:37pm

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman gave the Clinton Foundation a pass on identifying foreign donors in its charitable filings — making it impossible to know if it got any special favors while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state, according to a report Tuesday.

Scripps News found that the foundation and its subsidiary, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, took in $225 million in government donations between 2010 and 2014. New York’s charity law clearly states: “Organizations that received a contribution or grant from a government agency during the reporting period shall include the name of each agency from which contributions were received and the amount of each contribution.” But both the foundation and the CHAI failed to do that, and Schneiderman, a member of Clinton’s “leadership council” in New York and a fierce critic of Donald Trump, did nothing about it.

On its website, the Clinton Foundation reveals its foreign donors, but using only broad ranges, such as $5 million to $10 million, without any time frames. The IRS doesn’t require such disclosures. In 2009, Clinton’s first year at the State Department, the foundation disclosed a lump sum of $122 million in foreign-government donations in its New York paperwork, posting the total amount on a form that requires all charities to “list each government contribution separately.”

Clinton spokesman Josh Schwerin said, “This is a ridiculous accusation. The Clinton Foundation goes above and beyond the disclosure requirements by listing every donor on their website and updating the list quarterly.” Schneiderman’s office said, “The Clinton Foundation’s disclosures regarding funding from foreign governments are in compliance with New York law.”

Other charities complied, including the George W. Bush foundation, which reported receiving $5 million from Saudi Arabia and $500,000 from Kuwait.

Hillary and the smirking Eric Schneiderman (right).

As NY AG Eric Schneiderman helped the Clinton Foundation hide foreign donations.
Schneiderman was recently ousted from office for slapping choking and spitting at women in his bedroom for sex.
The lawman threatened to tap one women's phone.

“You can’t accept a thing of value from a foreign power” The first line of you statement. The action “accept” never happened. If you think Trump did ask for quid pro quo, which he didn't, he never received anything. That is the main point, it is THE REASON the Democrats look like idiots ! You can't charge someone with prostitution till the money is exchanged. Matter of fact Trump preempted all this with his, “I don't Want anything statement.” The plan for Nancy and her rats are to dig into sites like Free Republic and try to gum up the works during the Congressional break. It's not gonna work. Most of the country believes this is a sham impeachment and they could care less about conservative sites. There is a High percentage of Democrats and independents at Trumps rally's also if he gets over 30 percent African American vote he wins easily. Democrats should hold an impeachment Rally, it would be funny, the only people that would be having a blast would be Trump supporters having a laugh, seriously though no one would show up. Brennan being investigated, Comey proved a rat in disgrace, Rogers cooperating, Nancy embarrassed to let the Senate have her impeachment farce; things are looking great for Democrats? Democrats should keep a stiff upper lip, forge ahead and realize they may in the end.... what's that Shakespeare said...”hoist with their own petard”?

The President of the United States has conversations with foreign leaders routinely. And yet you’re willing to assume that he never discussed corruption involving other Americans with ANY of them ... even though the conversation with the Ukrainian president is the ONLY one where you’ve actually seen the transcript?

Get your head out of your ass and take a pill for your mild case of TDS.

I think you’re right. I’d love to know why quid pro quo is illegal. Anti-Trumpsters are interpreting this Ukrainian thing in the worst possible way. They frame this as an attempt to dig up dirt to affect a presidential election. However, the president is charged with enforcing the laws, ensuring aid is properly used, and conducting foreign policy. Saying there was no quid pro quo at all—when those are done all the time—looks like a coverup if there actually was one.

Sondland’s call to the President was an attempt to entrap Trump with a wide open question in my opinion. Trump didn’t give them anything. Case closed.

Thank you, by the way, for answering my question as to the law that prohibits a quid pro quo, even though it’s clear the statute does not cover the circumstances of an official making a request in keeping with the duties of his office as in this case. Now, has a politician ever actually been prosecuted under this law?

By the way I’m still waiting for an explanation from you as to how exactly the transcript clearly demonstrates any violation of the statute.

“President Trump simply wasn’t keen on the idea of U.S. taxpayers pissing away hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to a foreign country in Europe. “

ESPECIALLY since the rest of Europe, which should have had way more dogs in this fight than the U.S., didn’t seen to give a crap or a Euro themselves ...
