Doesn’t matter. Once you are impeached you are forbidden, forbade and illegally in a position in the US where you are paid, reap any benefit, etc. BUT...He’ a Democrat so the Constitution doesn’t matter.

No, the US Senate did not include that disability in its impeachment conviction. . . they deliberately stoped short of doing it at the request of Democrats who brought the impeachment because Hastings had been acquitted of the criminal case in court. . . even though some of the reasons for his acquittal were the perjury charges for which he was impeached.

Hastings is the postboy for Democrat corruption. The reason he is still in Congress is because he is a black Democrat. Otherwise, if he were a white Democrat, he’d still be there. Same thing. No morals, ethics, character on the Left.
And his long time live in girlfriend is on his staff making fat salary, which is illegal.

Hastings is partially right in saying “I didn’t do anything white people had (not) done.” Politicians, white, black, Republican, Democrat, male, female and other are robbing the taxpayer blind. Do you think Hastings changed his behavior after being impeached? He might be more cautious but not less corrupt. Hastings did more than accept bribes. In order for a majority of Democrats to vote against him there was something else. He should be exposed but the only people of exposing him are as corrupt as he is. They fear he will expose them. James Traficant and Adam Clayton Powell went against the flow and were destroyed. Hastings cannot set rules because he does not believe there are any: “There ain’t no rules here, we’re trying to accomplish something. . . .All this talk about rules. . . .When the deal goes down . . . we make ‘em up as we go along.”
He’s in Congress now, where bribery and insider trading is legal. As a judge, he showed his suitability for Congress by accepting bribes, he knows how to play along and not stir the pot.
Shameless and fearless. I guess when you have the entire media establishment on your side with a common enemy you can do whatever you want no matter how bad it looks.
